New System, Do I have All of The Right Components?

First time posting here. So far I have just bought a pair of speakers from the classifieds section in this form.

I would just like to know if all the components of my new system will all work nicely with each other. It’s a little late to be asking as I have bought them all though I haven't installed anything but the deck. BTW this is going into a pontiac fiero, a small two seater, so I don't have much room.

So here it is:

Infinity Reference 4" x 6" two-way plate - Rear

RMS-45w

Peak-135w

Impedance-2ohms

MB Quart Discus 5.25 Component - Front

Power Handling: 35 - 90w

Impedance- 4ohms

Pioneer DEH-P780MP

Tang Band 5.25 Subwoofer

RMS-40w

Peak-80w

Impedance-4ohms

This sub is to be used in the stock sub box that came as a factory upgrade.

I don't need any amp for the speakers, this system is just to replace the 20yr old factory setup. I may add one later if I get more money to put into this system.

I do need an amp however for my sub. It's a very small sub, as you can see, at 80w peak. So I have been looking for a cheap amp. So far I have found these 2 close to me:

Alpine 3517

specs:

-30W x 2 into 4 ohms from 20 Hz - 20 KHz at 0.04% THD

-35W x 2 into 2 ohms from 20 Hz - 20 KHz at 0.08% THD

( I would bridge them if I can, not sure if I can bridge them, Can I?)

Pioneer GM-X302

(couldn't find any info for myself, this is sellers info)

35w x2 stereo

80w bridged

I like the Alpine out of the two because of its small footprint, I couldn't find the dimensions of the Pionner. I want to put it under my seat. That’s why I would like a small size. Is one of these better then the other? I’ll probably get both anyway, they are really cheap.

The one thing that has me worried is the 2ohm infinity speakers. It says its fine to connect to a 4ohm deck on the infinity website. But it says not to connect anything other then 4ohm or 8ohm speakers to the deck in the manual.

Will it be ok??

Thanks in advance for your help //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Yeah the 2 ohm speakers jumped out at me. You can wire 2 subs in series, to make a 4 ohm load present, I am not sure if you can do the same with that on you Head Unit, but thats the only thing I could think of doing.

I would personally get an AMP for your components. Your Head Unit will not be able to power them very well. If it is such a small car you would be better off IMO to not even put the 6 X 9's in and just run the Components off an AMP. You could sell the 6 X 9 for some extra cash to go to an amp. It will make it sound a world of times better. I am running CDT Components up front and giving them like 90wRMS each and they sound soooo much better than even my old 4 co-axial speakers. People cannot even tell there is no rear speakers, and I have mid-size 4 door. With your 2 door, there is no way anyone will know

Or you could look for a multi channel amp and run both the Components and Sub off of it. Should be pretty cheap with only needing like 80wRMS per channel.

Good luck

Yeah the 2ohms thing is bothering me. I heard the same as you. 2 subs in series is ok but I don't know about the speakers ether. BUT I don't think I would want to as there wouldn't be front/back or left/right.

This is what it says on infinity website:

" True-Four Ohm - Infinity Reference speakers have two-ohm voice coils. This unique approach extracts more power from your amp or head unit. Many factory OE systems include two-ohm speakers. Infinity Reference speakers are perfect for those applications. If your head unit or amplifier is rated to drive a four-ohm load, Infinity Reference speakers are still the best option."

This confused me.

I know my deck isn't going to give my any of my speakers much power but I'm just changing out the factory stuff. If its not loud enough for me it shouldn't be hard to and an amp.

BTW they are 4x6 plates, tweeter and a 4" woofer on a plate, not 6x9.
