sure. but doest sound to good for the coils so far. are both not working?

yeah, niether one is doing anything.

Sounds like a bad sub. Is the tinsel leads broken somehow? Hook up a dmm to the coils and see if you get a 4 ohm reading. And look at the coil itself, is it burnt somehow? Is the cone locked up?

I do get a 4 ohm reading on each coil, 2 ohm wired in parallel. the cone does move manually, I can't see anything visually wrong with the coil or tinsel leads

both the aa and 9v are fresh out of packs i've had for maybe a month

do you have a home stereo that you could test it on maybe just to see if you get any sound wired diff ways?
