New or old kicker cvx

Hi been out of the car audio scene for awhile. Anyways I decided to put a small system in my car and I ordered two kicker compvx 10's. When I opened the boxes one sub had a swirl on the cone and the other had a K ? Both are supposed to be the same sub. They have all same ratings but look different. Does anyone know which sub is newer or the year kicker changed the design of the cvx ?

sounds like the one with a swirl is a solo classic. not 100% but they both should have the same markings no matter the model. only thing i have seen change with the model is the funky cone they have. to bad u didn't ask what to get first, although the cvx is kicker best round sub; there is much better to be had for the high price of a cvx.

The sub with the swirl has the letters CVX on the outer of the cone and the one with the kicker K on the front has CompVX on the outer of the cone. Unfortunately I didn't think of joining this forum before I walked into the car audio shop and these kicker cvx are the most powerful sub sitting on the floor of my local shop lol. But I am putting a stereo in my SUV next and my local shop can special order me anything so I would love to know what subs that are better for the 300 dollar each price range I paid for these. Besides the alpine type r 12's that didn't last 30 min on my kicker amp before blowing .

$300 each ???? Please do not go back to the shop. Don't. Please.

This sub in the right box SoundQubed HDS312 12 INCH SUBWOOFER Will hit harder then both of those kickers.

Step 1. No more mainstream stuff

Step 2. Invest in a good amp (crescendo, soundqubed, incriminator etc..)

Step 3. Buy sub(s) from soundsolutionsaudio or vertexaudio any stores like that

Step 4. Build your own box, plans on the site here and how to do it. You will get super loud for minimal cost

Step 5. Buy wire from real companies like Knu Konceptz or sky high car audio

I would have saved a whole lot of money if I personally had known about this before. I messed up twice before.

what amp do you currently have and how much space are you willing to give up need dimensions LxWxH.

The only reason a type R would blow is due to user negligence by improper gain settings that or you are dumping more then 1200 watts rms into it.

As for subs under 300$ this 50lb sub makes the cvx look like a crossdressing sissy

SSA Store - SoundQubed HDC312 Copper Coil Subwoofer (HDC312)

there's a 15" and 18" version as well. I'd totally recommend getting the refund because performance wise you are getting ripped off with those cvx

These are 67lb monsters another choice for under 300$, even beefier then the other sub. Subwoofers - Ethos - directsoundsolutions.com

I'm not sure how strong your electrical system is but these real subs require power as in a powerful amp along with alternators batteries and 1/0 or 2/0 gauge power wire all around. because these DSS and soundqubed subs can take up to 150-200% of their rated RMS wattage if the power is clean. You'd need to learn how to set gains properly.

Great info guys. I will be changing my mind on the subs for my SUV. The cvx's are in my toyota echo hatchback I'm running a kicker cx 1200.1 amp with a sony xav602bt head unit. As for the power I already have to get my alt beefed up. I got a shop doing it as we speak for the echo it will be 120-150 amp range when finished the guy said. And yes I guess I had 1200 rms into the type r 12's. But that's what I'm putting into my cvx 10's no problem. As for my 2000 pathfinder build I'm going to be digging around and taking lots of advice from this site and doing it right this time. I'll be trying to stay in the 2000 rms range
