new install pics...who likes 8's.

Is that actually metal? or is it like, uhh, I dunno what to call it.. its like plactic that you peel off and stick on..

If it is metal, did you have to deaden it? I wnder about it sounding pingy (is that a word) or resonating...

Either way looks Cool... Hows it sound...

At one point, I was thining of doing a wall of 8's or 10s...

all i did was make a simple mdf box, each sub gets .4 cubes each in sep. chambers, then i polyfilled em, then put the diamond plate on the top of the box, then made trim panels... but i tell ya....i look back in old caraudio mags from like 95 and i still will always love the look of mdf....fiberglass is cool......but maybe it's hard to let an old love go....simple....clean functional.....no paint to worry about cracking....etc..crazy fiberglass to me is for democars...or trailer queens, i love to drive my car and so i shall....i like fiberglass for making the back of enclosures and kicks.....but i have never really taken a liking to it.

sadly, the passenger footwell sub will be gone soon, the KODA midbass can handle the duties fine....the whole front stage will be reworked to go with the diamond plate theme.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smokin.gif.f1dc8d2acb1809e863ebd6a47eaa0d45.gif

P.S. the diamond plate is aluminum. very thin, like cereal box cardboard thin.

how happy are you with your planet audio equipment?
I'll speak from my experience. A while back I picked up a few Zetar series subs, mainly because they were on sale for dirt cheap. They weren't anything too special, but still respectable. I'd love to try out the FU series now. As far as amps go, they're still nice //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I'd have to say that Planet Audio is one company that is often overlooked - same goes for Memphis.

my experiance with the FU series subs is not too great they have some heavy magnets and could hit pretty hard but they are very picky about enclosure, I didnt get to play with them too much but I am sure they have their sweet spot, definately not in a box with a large port. The dealers that buy planet audio from us are very happy with the price / performance ratio but they usually buy the v-series speakers and the titian series amps thats mostly what we carry in planet audio

Id have to agree with you that they are often overlooked, was jsut wondering what luck taylor had had with them glad to hear youve had good luck with them

btw looks great taylor

i love my PA gear, the FU's are insane....who ever said they don't like big ported boxes must not have had them installed right. we used a box made for CV strokers and were doing high 150's in a swift with stock electrical and skipping h/u...

overall amps put out more than rated power, it's very clean power, and the woofers manage to hit hard enough for me to cap the 130db mark. i love 8's....very tight, and **** loud.

i like the compnents, but i find the tweeters a bit harsh, they need EQ bad...so i stuck with my bostons up front.

i still will always love the look of mdf.... QUOTE]

Ahhh the Smell of an MDF airfreshener.... If you have a vented or ported box, everytime the bass hits, you get a fresh blast of that delightful fragrance...

I can almst smell it now.... Wait thats casue I have a 3.4 Cubic foot box in my room for an Old School 15" Kicker C15-4... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/satan.gif.9c6a335ed7aeeed3ee273e573f1fcaac.gif

your probably right taylor as I said I didnt have much time to play with them, but the one 12 I got to test out did not like the ported enclosure I put it in at all I believe the port on the enclosure (not the enclosure) was too large and the enclosure itself too small

you refering to the P6 components? the tweeter on those is a tad harsh .

Wow I like the aluminum Checkerplate mounting. Man I would like to get some of that in 1/4 in. thickness and make the front of my box like that with a port in the center, that would be sweet lol
