-4 gauge input & 4 8 gauge outputs

Ground Block: Knuconceptz Ground Block

Speaker Wiring: Knuconceptz 12 Gauge Speaker Wire

Battery Terminal(s): Stinger SXBTM

Current Issues/Questions:

1. How do I determine what size fuses I will need? I need one at the battery and then three at the distro block; one for each amp and the Carputer.

2. How do I extend my headunit wire harness? (I am relocating headunit to approx. 2 feet away from stock location)

3. How do I extend my stock antenna, keeping in mind it is a GM vehicle

4. Can anyone recommend a replacement XM antenna for the Alpine TUA-T020XM unit?

5. Should I replace the stock speaker wiring with the upgraded wire and run it directly from each speaker to the four channel amp in the trunk?

6. How hard is it to wire up molex connectors for the touchscreen AND powered USB hub up front (touchscreen is 12v and hub accepts 5v and the carputer power supply has inputs for this, I just need to build a cable with molex connectors on each end). I also need to prepare another 12v molex connector for the external harddrive which will also run off the power supply.

7. Is the sub amp two small for the two 10” JL subs?

8. Do you think the Infinity Kappa speakers will be sufficiently powered by the Alpine 4 channel amp?

9. Do you have any recommendations for a trunk layout. At first I was thinking a fiberglass enclosure for each of the amps in the wheel wells, but practically speaking, I have never fiberglassed before. I read the sticky regarding fiberglassing and it definitely motivated me.

Any other recommendations/comments are greatly appreciated. All of these items have already been purchased and a local installer has fabricated a console to house the Alpine radio and USB hub which has not yet been completed. The same installer was supposed to do the installation, however that seems to have fallen through and I am looking for another local installer in Florida. I would also like to point out that this is my most involved install thus far and I am a little overwhelmed at this point.

Picture of B-Quiet Ultimate Sound Deadening material. It was surprisingly easy to work with-I had never used it before. I ordered another 50 sq. foot roll to do the doors and go over some of the areas I already did:

5. Yes use new speaker wire when you put in your new amp. The stock wire is probably 20 or 22 gauge.

My mom has an 04 impala LS with the premium sound and everything goes through the HU like reset oil light, chimes, etc I think its too much of a pain to upgrade the stereo in it...

You can reset the oil light and their was one more through the gas pedal and brake pedal... as for door chimes if you still want that anoying lil chime then theirs a module they sell for it.

use a chime module. peripheral makes one called the GMCO. pac, and a few other companies also make them. with that you won't have to relocate the stock radio, and you also won't have to track down an accessory wire, the GMCO interprets the databus wire, gives you a chime, no error/service light, makes the car think the stock radio is still in the vehicle, and gives you a retained accessory output (radio stays on until you open the door, like the factory radio does). i had an 02 impala with a TON of stuff in it (screens, ps2, eclipse 8062, jl amps, w7, etc etc etc). it's EASY to run your own wires into the doors. in all honesty it's a real easy car to work on, period... unless you get into wiring up alarms and stuff, and then the only real problem is the locations of the door trigger wires are kind of a pain to get to.

metra sells one called the GMRCO1 - its a harness that adapts onto the stock harness (yes you can get rid of the radio) and it has a speaker in it and it deals with all the "problems" that occurr when the stock cd player is removed. they are like $90 through circuit city though... and there is a pink wire that is the ignition wire (i believe) because new GM's dont have ignition for the stereo - and thats fu*king stupid if you ask me.

anyway, the GMRCO1 will solve your problems, but its like $100 after tax. a hefty chunck of change on top of your aftermarket stereo.

and btw, i hate my fathers 04 impala. the car has ZERO up front storage space (sides the TINY glovebox that the vehicle manual does NOT fit into, and the center console that can hold like 10 CD's and your wallet).

i hate that car with a passion.

The car does have a pretty big trunk though...and it is quick too for a sedan.

@Chinny,

I sent you a PM with those measurements.

@ Everyone else,

So if I have OnStar and a premium sound system and I could care less about retaining any of that crap...what would my best solution as far as a wiring harness is concerned?
