I purchased this - tvhttp://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921665118450

HDMI connections are the best correct?

I will hook the cable box through HDMI as well as the PS3 when I get it.

What is the next best - S-video?

We also have Suddenlink as our cable provider, using their box we get a white box on the bottom of the screen displaying channel and info, what is the best way to prevent burn in?

Did I make a good decision for price performance ratio on the HDTV?

Next I need suggestions on a receiver for my home theater.

Are HDMI connections the best? The short answer would be yes, however depending on the individual setup components can offer just as good a picture as hdmi. The upside is you get digital audio out of the hdmi cables otherwise you would have to use a separate optical audio cable for digital sound.

S-video connections are generally not suited for HD content. You would either want to use HDMI, Component, or DVI connections.

Due to the design of LCDs they are typically not affected by Burn-In. As long as you don't keep the TV on 24/7 you should not have any problems.

HDMI - best digital connection. Can pass up to 1080p video AND digital audio.

Component - next best connection. Can pass up to 1080i / 720p digital video only.

Audio on separate cable(s).

S-Video and composite connections cannot pass high definition video.

Nice choice in TV. We were watching football & playing the 360 on it for a good while today and it had a great picture. Burn in should not be an issue with that tv.

As far as a receiver goes, I like the Denon receivers myself. Very clean and neutral sound for the money.

HDMI has had issues with quality, most sources I've seen look better with it but sometimes you get better performance through component video connections. If you can, I'd test both or read up on the specific devices you plan to use and see what people have said in HT forums.

Good advice, however make sure the person your listening to on the forum knows what there talking about. After spending an afternoon on AVSforum I found the population here to be more knowledgeable.... thats saying something

you can get them for 10 bucks on google checkout, if its the first time using google checkout you get $10 off the order which = free cables //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
