new guy needs amp selection help

Ok, I'm almost brand new to the car audio scene. About the only thing I have going for me is friends who know a little and a little electronics background.

I want some subs for my '94 Camaro and after listening to as many different subs as I could find in my area (arguably not all that many) I decided on 3 JL Audio 10W3V2 with dual 6 ohm voice coils which can handle 300W RMS each.

I plan on using a sealed box and wiring for a 4 ohm load.

Now, my real question is to the wattage of amp I need.

Do I just need an amp that can deliver 300W at 4 ohms or do I need an amp that can deliver 900W (300W/sub X 3 subs) at 4 ohms?

I know its probably a stupid newbie question but I've read everything I can get my hands on and can't find anything resembling an answer.

What little electronics knowledge I have says that I would need the 900W since voltage and current should be equal between equal resistance paths of a parallel circuit. Since the current would essentially be divided by 3 and Amps X Volts = Watts it seems like you would need 3X the wattage. Since I'm new to car audio I want to make sure I'm thinking in the right context though.

Also any advice on a good amp would be welcome.

OK, so I was right thinking I would need a 900W amp.

I'm probably going to get an amp that is around 900W @ 4 ohms, with my searches it seems like 4 ohm stable amps are a little easier to acquire than 1 ohm stable amps.

Although I don't know much about amps that soundstream looks pretty good, especially for that price.

Now another question I have is since that amp puts out 1000W and the total max wattage of the subs is 900W, how safe is that going to be? Its not going to put excessive wear on them or blow them is it?
