New Enclosure for XXX

I currently have a XXX 12 in the sql (2.5 ft^3 - 35 hz) enclosure from RE's website. For me it is plently loud, but on some songs it seems to blur the really fast bass notes. I was wondering if I would get a noticable difference in SQ if I changed to a 2.1 ft^3 enclosure tuned to 28hz, or would I have to go sealed to get better sq? Any other recommendations are welcome as well.

I found that my 2.5 box tuned to 35 hz was rather loud. So I switched to a 2.0 tuned to 29hz. I did notice less output from the higher frequencys but much better SQ.

What amp are you running?

I found this pic with dimensions for the 12 XXX SS but I was unsure of what angles and lengths to make the slant pieces, some of them are labeled as 3" but are all of them? Does the angle of those slants really matter?

That is a pic of the 15 XXX SS and the height is 17".

To tell you the truth I wasn't fully sure of the height, but someone on sounddomain said it was 17" so I do not know. I am pretty sure the 12 XXX ss is correct because that is an actually p4s box that he measured.

Does any one know the angle of this joint, it looks like 135 degree or so? well i can't load a picture. But the angle I was talking about is the one on the triangle that connects it to the end of the 11.5'' piece of wood.

most likely not. It was designed for a 12" XXX. The SS designs are driver specific!

How do I go about designing a snailshell enclosure? Is there a spreadsheet or something that provides some direction?
