Ok above is my new idea for my second install, i wanna cut 2 peices of wood exactly the shape as the floor of my trunk lay down the first one put in some braces about 5" thick and mount my amps inbetween them giving my amps about 2" of air above them and about 6" either side of them and then i wanna lay another peive of wood over the top of them and carpet it so u cant see the amps at all. then i can just wack my sub box ontop of it and take it when i wanna use the trunk.

My question is if i did this would the amps overheat because they aren't in open air? its not that powerfull I have 2x 700w maystar amps they feel slightly warm if u put ur hand on them but i wldn't say they get hot.

If you make the top board the full widht of your trunk just put some vents on the left side and put a pair of 120mm 12v exhaust fans on the right.

sorry, my ascii art skillz are pretty rusty... anyways, with this layout the fans can be mounted under the board blowing up and out. the cool air coming in from the vents on the left will keep your amps nice -n- happy and a pair of 120mm fans will provide plenty of circulation.

U guys got ne links where I can buy some fans? Also how would I power them just connect em to the battery like the amp?

get a relay (hooks onto the REM line- or any 12v switched power - ie, ignition wire) and wire them to that.

if you dont know what a relay is, check http://www.bcae1.com or use the search, its been covered tons of times.

but yes. just install some fans to cool them off, but i dont see it posing a huge problem.

kewl yeh i know just enough to connect a relay so the fans r only on when the engine is on right?

Thanks alot for the help guys think am guna go ahead and built it at the weekend

yea i'd say u absolutely need fans. my amp has never shut off b4, but the first day i put it inside a sealed enclosure, it shut off. my amp isnt a piece of crap either, so that goes to show u its pretty necessary.

Yeh well i found a couple of 6" fans i had in an old pc will wack them in it see how effective they are, just drawn up the dimensions now will have pics up on sunday //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I was thinking ive got 2 spare caps (I know most people r cap haters) Iknow they do F# all but they have a digital display and look pretty cool so i was thinking of mounting them inbetween the amps in the middle of the trunk and putting a little plexi glass window above them so u can still see their read outs. then place my subs eaither side.

Anyone got ne ideas what i can do with my subs am gunna end up having just 2 boxes dumped on either side of the trunk not sure how i can encorperate em so they look like they are meant to be there. I've got 2 L7's in box's built to the spec that came with 'em.
