Okay, I'll start here.
The 18" subwoofer in question is 350w rms. Now, with 350w rms, do you honestly think you need anything other than a stamped basket? Sure, the owner could use a 6 spoke like most of the other people out there, but the cost would increase significantly. The 18's are more or less designed for people who, well, want 18's. The Strato 18's as pictured/in the video have an FS of 26hz and the company was doing basic testing in a small box to see how they did - considering they were in 6^ft net, I dont think it was all that bad. Now, you want to see your "easily" 46's? Dont put them in 6^ft at 30hz, put them in a 9^ft box for the pair at 38hz like everyone else and you'll see those overly large gains like you want. Like I said, the video was posted to prove that the woofers will still get down in even the smallest of environments.
The company is, in fact, SQ oriented, like Mobeius said.
The Exo 15. Sureeee, it's a 12 spoke design. I can name a million other companies that use it. In fact, most companies use it somewhere in their lineup. Anyways, as stated somewhere up there, its to keep the cost down. As with any company, a custom basket could be tooled to make it "look" cooler and add minimal gains, but unless you(and the rest of the users) would like to pay 100-150 dollars more a woofer I just don't see the point in doing that? Custom tooling isn't cheap ha
