heh.
Meeting as much of the following criteria as possible, suggest a car make and model for me to purchase.

1.) MUST BE under $8,000

2.) MUST BE used

3.) MUST BE automatic

4.) should have a lot of front seat foot room for kickpanels

5.) should have a large trunk for a pair of 15 avalanches ported

6.) should get over 20 mpg city

7.) should probably be 97 or newer and have 100,000mi or less

Looking for reliability, looks, and functionality.

i dont know about SUV's. i am not sure if there's a good one in my price range, and then also i would be spending plenty of cash on gas...

I might look into a few crown victoria's. you're not the first to suggest one

Is anyone here a huge fan of VW Passat and/or Jetta, which one, and why?

Does anyone hate VW Passat and/or Jetta from personal experience, and why?

I have heard that the VW's that were made in Germany are way noticably better than the ones made in Mexico.

What do people mean when they say maintenence is high on a VW? I know it's slightly more expensive, but what about the VW's makes them high maintenence?

I'm not sure where grove city is at in Ohio, but I've heard that you can pick up VWs fairly cheap in Canada, in the Windsor area. Reliable cars for the most part.

Why not look into something similar to what you had? Toyota, VW, and Honda are your best bet for reliability IMO.

A close friend of mine just bought a 2002 jetta over the summer for about $13,450 USD here in Canada. The car had about 80000 miles on it and was in awesome condition. After a month or so, he was driving to a party or something and his clutch burned out, he went to quite a few different places for quotes and ended up paying like over $1000 USD for a new clutch + labour. Other than that, his car has been pretty reliable for the last...6 or so months.

heres are some cars in your area

Thank you 80. What do you think of Chryslers in general? I'm trying to get something that will last me through the next 4 or 5 years of college without too much problems with maintenance and stuff like that.

How is reliability for chryslers?

i am also still looking at Toyota camrys and corollas, but the looks of Hondas dont really appeal to me. Most hondas I see do nothing but remind me of how people try to rice them.

Thanks for all the help! i guess now all i need is a day to look up a lot of cars and locations to see who has what for me. or just drive around to every local car place...

or should i just keep my eyes on the classifieds? i am told that the best way to buy is from a private seller, not a commercial lot. what is your guys' take on that?

there pretty good cars.....the newer the better......those cars in your area look real nice....i wouldnt mind picking one up but i already have a 02 intrepid....which is basicly the same car but with 2.5 cubes less trunk space

if u look at mt avatar..thats the rear door of my friends 01 chrysler concorde

if u got the cash then buy from a commercial lot..u can always talk them down......private sellers are set on the price they want....they always say obo..or best offer....so if u offer 8g's and the next day someone offers 9g's....they taking 9g's

a commercial lot....u can see a car for 8g's and u can tell the salesman u have 7g's cash..they will take it

and u just saved yourself a g....and u can put that g towards hooking up your car
