we have a 03 xterra,paid off 2 years ago. never had a problem with it. i just changed the timing belt in it and will keep it for a few more years

I thought they use timing chains?

i love the 06 and up xterras, but i decided to go with the lexus, one of my buds has a 06 xterra and somethings weird with it, the temp gauge always reads like the line before over heating but never goes in the red. hes drove the piss out of it but still it makes no sense, took it to nissan dealership and they said it was fine? but yet another bud of mine has a 09 xterra and they have the same gauge layout and his reads in the middle heat zone all the time

strange with that problem,my frontier has the same 4.0 and never had any problems with it. both of my nissans just needed the usual maintenance. i do like the lexus though.

I'd pick the IS over the xterra. Its not expensive to repair either if you know what you're doing because you can use toyota parts. And a bonus is having a supra motor n/a, think of the potential
