New box help

Hi, I am very new to building boxes so bare with me.

I have 1 Alpine Type-x sub powered by 1 Power acoustik 1800

I am going to build a sealed box but am unsure of what dimensions would give me the sound I am looking for.

Does a smaller box give me a cleaner and tighter hit, but lacks loudness?

OR

Does a larger box give me a delayed hit, but more loudness?

I am looking to have a balanced sound with loudness and a nice hit. According to crutchfield the recommended cu. for a sealed box is : 0.65-1.25 cubic feet.

Does anybody have any experience with this sub and what cu. sounds the best?

I was thinkin around 1.12 CU? with dimensions 12x14x15

What kinda sound would that give me??

Those subs are pretty laid back and smooth. Putting them in a smaller enclosure (about .7 cubes) will lessen their low end and give you a slight boost in output in the upper bass frequencies. Putting them in a larger enclosure (1.5-2.0) will smooth out the frequency response and give you more output at lower frequencies.

Basically, the larger enclosure will be louder around 25-35hz and the smaller enclosure will be louder around 55-100hz. The larger enclosure will be smoother while the smaller enclosure will sound more punchy due to the increase in output in the midbass area.

Anyone else have any other input? I'm gonna start building on tuesday and wednesday

I still think I am going to build it at 1.12 cu. ft which is in the middle according to the previous post. Which will give me a balanced sound
