New Box For My XXX **Pics**

Here are two examples of ported boxes....

First one...in this box the port divides the box in half...thus like nG said giving the air an "option" on where to travel. which isnt good.

Second box...in this box the air has only one path, that is to exit the box out of the port...

Ohhh I understand.

****, that sucks.

More my fault than anything, I should have just put the sub on the left and the port on the right. Oh well

Ng, I might take you up on that. We'll see.

I've got a question then relating to port placement...What about Aeroports? They're placed in locations that dont give the air only 1 route to go. And while we're on that topic, do they have to be placed a diameters distance away from every wall?

Sorry for the partial thread jack...flame away

Place AT LEAST a diameters distance away from the wall, I recommend 1.5times the diameter.

Aeroports... there's only onw **** way out //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif...

I was wondering if it smaked the wall of the port in the box.

So it can be anywhere as long as it's 1 to 1.5 times away from the wall. My new box is some what like his. Sub inverted on top and aero port (on side of box) in the middle of the box.

This will work, right?

dude, no offense, but you need to read more.
What are you talking about panels looking like panels? Are you referring to our crappy double baffling job? It's because we didn't have any wider pieces, so, rather than picking up a new piece of MDF, we decided to do that and fill the gaps with Bondo.

2. I placed the woofer and the port like that. He left that up to me. No one has answered my question thus far as to why it is bad that they are like that.

3. I guess since he can't take a screen shot he must **** at life:rolleyes:

He actually explained to me why he didn't use screen shots, I just forgot

P.S. It was free
Meaning, the design is actually 3-D, not 2 1/2 D.Not important, but if you're a "designer" it should be.

I read everything that needed to be read.Nowhere did you mention anything I mentioned.

Looks good Kev =) Just make sure you get limo tint cause if I saw that sticking out of someones trunk.... I'd be tempted.. and that's coming from an honest guy. And get that 12 awg speaker wire outta there. It's a power hungry beast that needs some bigger wire.

Gonna have to chime in on bad box design, but only because you said you wanted to build another. I'm no expert, but you should do a little more research or have someone sketch something up, some guys on here live for that. I think in a good design, your port should add bracing or support for sub, not being punished by it such as in your design. Also, those port dimensions are definately not optimal, ratio should be closer to 1x8, and with such a large box can't you fit a straight port in there?

Build is okay though, but I think you will be much happier with a new dsign.
