New Blowthrough- JBL W12GTis, ID Horns, Premier amps

sweet build for sure. Attention to detail looks great too and I bet it sounds amazing. Some sweet equipment for sure, and gotta be a ton of bass for a tiny little cab.

Thanks for the compliments so far guys. The horns are incredible. I can't say it enough. Even listening to stuff that normally almost hurt to listen to, these things bring it to life and put you front and center stage. It is quite a bit of bass for the small cab, but surprisingly tight, clean, accurate, and not boomy at all. Some of that could have to do with the $700 of deadening I have in the single cab. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif It's very fun to listen to, to say the least. I started tuning a bit this morning. Man, how rewarding to work on designing and building something for the better part of 2 months, and have it all come together in the end. Reminds me why I love this hobby so much. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

It's always good when all your hard work of planning and scheming comes to fruition. I would love to try those subs and one day horns. Never seem to ever hear a bad thing about either.

Must be like a tomb in there with all that deadening too.

Looks great. You didnt' happen to get those horns from fredridge did you? just wondering.

Horns are really nice. They're even better when you have some nice big efficient mids to mate them with. Your dash looks perfect for a horn install. lucky you.

For tuning with horns, I found that I got the best imaging with having one side (passenger side) out of phase.

if you don't have it already, this track is good for helping find the correct phase (track 3 of 2005 IASCA)

I did get them from Fredridge as a matter of fact. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif The mids I scooped up are fairly efficient, but now that I have had to cut my door panels, I think I am going to swap them out for some 8" B&C 8NDL51 or the 8" version of the 18Sound mids I have now. Either way, these little 6.5" mids are very impressive.

Man dude, you have some clean ass installs.
What made you take out the Premiers? Just wanted change or were not happy? Those JBL's are nice though, I believe their top of the line subs.

Nice job as always!
Thank you. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif The Premiers were fine... I still have the 720PRS and the 10" subs. I have wanted to try horns for some time though, and that developed into swapping out mids for something more efficient, which turned into swapping out for some subs that could hang with the mids and horns. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif That's the way it goes I guess.

were did u get the grommets for your wire? the ones that are in the amp rack
Ace Hardware, of all places. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif You can pick them up from KnuKonceptz and PartsExpress (I think), but Ace had them locally. I would have preferred some that had a slightly larger flange, but these worked just fine. I picked up a cheap wood drill bit set at Home Depot that matched the various diameters of the grommets, then trimmed the carpet around the holes carefully with a razor blade... wait............ that's what she said? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif I think I paid about $.50 each for them, so it was less than 10 bucks for all of them. Cheap way to clean up the install, I thought.
