New amp or tune?

I'm running a JL Audio 900/5 (500W RMS) to a JL Audio 10W3V2 10" sub (300W RMS) in a sealed enclosure. I'm looking for more bass. DS18 recommend ZR 10" sub (700W RMS) in the same enclosure. Can I use the same amp? If so, do I need a re-tune?

I'd start by selling the 5ch amp and get more powerful ones.

I wouldn't bother swapping subs. You need either a bigger sub or bigger (ported) enclosure or more power.

That JL has a sensitivity of 85db. With the same amp you would need a sub with a higher sensitivity to be louder and even then it wouldn't be much louder.

I agree, new amp / a pair of 10's / or one 12" sub.

5 channel amps are pretty inexpensive these days. Especially when compared to JL's high prices.

If you are looking for a bit more boomy bass, then a ported box for that same sub should fill that need. A ported box is way more efficient than a sealed one, so in addition to the depth you should get a louder response at your daily volume.
