, i know what im talking about fool, look at the sensitivity on the w7 and swr1242d which indeed indicates they need juice and lots of it to be efficient. so dont tell me it cant handle it cuz ive done it and had the sub for months now...not to mention ummm look at the ratings for the type r 10" 05' version : 500w rms 1500w peak, ummm 10W7: 500w rms and umm 1000w peak maybe a bit more... i think thats comparable enuff ..case closed

The new Type R's should be able to handle around 1000WRMS daily. As far as the Type X's I would say 1500-2000WRMS daily. I kind of wish I would have went with 4 Type R's with 4 MRD-M605's. For $100-140 the Type R's are definitely some of the best subs for the money.

ive been messing with the R's since they come out

if you want to cruise around all day full tilt, dont send more than 1000 watts to the 12. For burps... its one HELL of a woofer. Took on an autotek mm4000 without issue. It also handled a viper 2500d @ 1 ohm for short periods (most of a song, depending on song) and got stinkin loud.

The type X isn't nearly as loud as the R, especially given the same power. But wow does it sound good.

The R's are cheap... way TOO cheap for what they do.

And the type R is more comparable to the RE SX, not the SE. The R definitely sounds better than an SX, and gets just as loud. The SX should handle more power RMS with the bigger coil... but the R is no slouch as far as long term power handling.. particularly the 15. Given an *actual* 1500 watts it handled it just fine for full songs.

Best woofs for the $, hands down.

what in the world did alpine do. this sub looks awesome. I dont understand why it is so cheap, other than its on ebay. Does anyone know what are the pros and cons of this new model woofer? 99$ on ebay buy it now that sounds like a steal

the subs needs hellz of power! dont get as loud as most would want, but loud enough for average joe. or kevin , frank who the hell ever you choose, but on the flip side... the subs are pretty freakin good (white guy voice)...no offense i luv white people, they r capable of doin 155+ with correct setup. holla back kidd

they don't "need" any amount of power.

I did a setup with one type R 12 and a lanzar 1200d running at 2 ohms - 600 watts if he's VERY lucky.... and it pulled a 141.9. I'd say thats loud for one 12 and 600 watts //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

i just built a box for a type R 10" goin in my friends ride, its in a 2.41 cu foot box , and tuned to 32 hz, i hooked it up to my eclipse 7232D in my car to test it out (2,000w RMS)and it hit really hard, definetly doesn't sound like a $140 sub

agreeeeeeed marky mark....i recommend that sub to a lot ofp eople. and you've been playing with the NEW ones since they came out....who had the old ones...ME! and the old ones blow compared to the new ones...

I have a single Type R 10(05 model) in my sisters and it blow me away. Im running a Kx600.1 to it and it sounds amazing and gets very loud. I love how musical it is. Alpine inded did a good job on this sub. If anyone wants a 10 cheap look at my post in the classifieds, lol.

The type r does not handle as much as the w7. The dub 7 can be ran with 1500rms all day long, the type r would go up in smoke, and The type x as well. Alpines new equipment is decent enough though. I sell them at a little shop I work at, and they seem to be doing decent so far.

(2 000 watts) / (14.4 volts) = 138.888889 amperes

(500 watts) / (14.4 volts) = 34.7222222 amperes

you guys are nuts, some of the configs you are suggesting use 140 amps of power, and you're playing with I would imagine stock alt, which only supplies around 60 amps from their reserve? heh.
