for the record, scott didnt just make this sub and slap my name on it....i had a little to do with how i wanted it to be - together, we discussed doing a 4" coil. We discussed how the tinsels were going to be and how many spiders we wanted to use. We talked about using a double slug version of the current BTL and doing some other tweaks to it. We talked about dustcap options (the actual cap) and also logo's. what im saying is, although its an AA sub there is a reason it says SMD on it too. This is a project WE have been working on over a year. I didnt just get a phone call one night and here it is, there was a lot of thought put into it.

Well lets get a few things out in the clear... it was a 155.5 to music car off and with 2 btl 18's and did a 153.8 at 34 hertz. so overall 2 BTL 18's against 4 and 20,000 against 6,000 and also you had about 4 times the electrical system. now you are doing it from the rear which I will give you credit i was in a wall all things being said they are about equally impressive and you do have a very impressive system from the rear and you made up for design by applying power. Another thing to consider is how many people out there are doing killer numbers and as musical if not more musical but they don't have a woofer. Although I do feel we are getting off the real topic here....the sub should actually say Scotts initials because Scott is the brains behind it and he has made numerous subs that are amazing, he just threw in your marketing and logo....Good luck and I am not hating as you have never done anything to me.

Ok I know a lot of this paragraph is theoretical But I think the point trying to be made here is this......... over 90 percent of people that can afford it of course could do the EXACT same thing meade is doing. If somebody bought 4 fi 18 btl's. Bought 4 rockford 4kw. the charging system. Called scott and said hey what do you recommend for box. Could hit the EXACT same number. I think the problem here is it took no knowledge to hit the number. Just money. My friend shackman isn't too bright at car audio but can build things great. If he had the money and called scott he could do the EXACT same thing. There is nothing special about the setup besides the astronomical amounts of money spent on this set up. Is it probably freaking loud ....yes!!! But he gets 50 times more recognition than Tommy/rio and pipo combined while not being near as loud. Now as far as hair tricks go to settle this freq is a more important factor than volume and honestly hair trick notes seem to be kinda low centered and I have sat in rio's and it did take my breathe away, but sorry man tommy's punch is way more painful . A little higher freq in comparison to lower will hurt more per amount of volume thus FEELING louder. Hair tricks have nothing to do with it. As a person meade may be a great guy. And he seems that he is a great sport with showing people his system in the days of people being so secretive about their crap. But I think his unjust fame has caused hatred from many people. There again not taking credit away man but you didn't do anything that somebody with credit cards couldn't have done and scotts help... Same way you did it. nothing personal man I just think everybody gets tired of hearing it when you have others out there way louder without getting credit from videos... I guess that is their choice not to make the videos though..... Don't worry we should be building a nice little toy next spring that we will get plenty of videos of

Most people have no experience when it comes to doing boxes..they simply have NO clue or any know how of what works with the subs, that's why the recommendations are there.

They are not law; They are a rule of thumb to follow. I've told you once and i'll tell you this again. If you find something that YOUR ears like better then by all means do it. I'm not the person who has to listen to it..you do. It is what YOU like that is what matters. Call me a prick but at the end of the day I am correct, and I could care less if you do not like the guidelines that both Scott and I have set to follow for the subs. (Yes, we both set this stuff up..together.)

If you can't accept it that's fine..move on. It doesn't matter to me...i'm not changing the recommendations because of one person not liking them and can not accept the fact that they are nothing more then GUIDELINES to FOLLOW, or in other words a simple 'rule of thumb'

How many boxes do you actually think dBdrag and bass race guys are within our recommendations? How many SQ cars using infinite baffle installs do you really think follow the rule of 3x the Vas of the sub is the 'perfect' enclosure volume? How many do you really think shoots for the .707 Qtc butterworth formula in a sealed enclosure in an SQ car?

What? I can't tell you what is loudest in your install..you have to figure that out.

I can't tell you what sounds best to you...YOU have to figure that out.

The guidelines are set and they work fantastic...if you find something that works better for you then go for it. I'm sticking to the guidelines because that is what we have set. (Much like all other manufacturer's recommended guidelines from ANY industry)

Most people do their own work and figure things out themselves...that's how we've done it for years. The first pair of 3515a's that I had do you honestly think I took DD's advice and tuned it to 40Hz? Shoot no, I knew better.

Lightning storm subs that I had that were 3HP based TC subs...did a 49.9 on the headrest at 29Hz with only 2281 watts for the pair...do you honestly think I used their recommended specs? Nope, There's simply not a box that I think inside of, nor is there a 'stock' box that I will use from anybody else because I know I can get more out of it. But this knowledge has come through trial..and error.

There simply is not a box that I think in, there is no cookie cutter design for any install. If that's a slap in the face then i'm sorry. Stick to the rec's..they work. If you want to dabble outside that's fine, but I can't tell you that you are going to a have a 6.132dBa peak at 48.112Hz...I can't do it. People expect to be able to hand you a design that is going to be amazingly fantastically loud..it's not happening. I know it does not work like that...i've done thousands upon thousands of hours of testing, I used to do SPL, i've worked on some of the loudest extreme vehicles in the world, as well as some of the loudest bass racers.

Subwoofers are dumb, and very simple. Put it in a bigger sealed box...you have less mechanical power handling and a more pronounced bottom end response. Smaller sealed box is the opposite, more mechanical power handling and a more peaky higher end respond. Ported box is much the same...bigger boxes tuned low peak low and roll off quickly. Big ported box tuned high with tons of port area peaks high and hard...more efficiency, less mechanical power handling. Smaller box = more mechanical power handling, peakier response around tuning and typically more transient instead of long drawn out chopped and screwed type mixes. Many who have a taste for rock and double kick drum bass use enclosures of this type...

That's how it works, it is simple..it's not hard to understand. Once again, if you find something that works better for you and your ears..go for it. I'm not going to condone it and i'm not going to change what we say to use.

You think toyota is going to change their fuel mapping that they flash on their computers because I found out that i can run 22 pounds of boost on the 3sgte after I did some injector work and what not? No....it's called do it yourself.

PS/FYI - Meade doesn't use a recommended enclosure size in his Tahoe...nor does the Hooptie have the recommended size. It works fantastic! But I didn't design that for him..he figured it out himself!

Ok I am not sure if this has been covered yet but I wanna comment on it while it is fresh in my head before I read to far ahead... I think the issue is here scott designed it you already said it. So it IS technically your woofer but no more sore than the btls that you bought in a the sense of ownership. I HIGHLY doubt you designed it and I am sure scott did all the recommendations. That is just paying somebody else to design it for you as I am sure some companies do. But i wouldn't take major credit for somebody elses design. If you are just in it to make a buck great idea. If you are in it to be proud... you are selling somebody elses design

i never said I DESIGNED IT but i did say i had something to do with it.....my name didnt just appear overnight. bassracing a 158 sealed up on a lab with the TAHOE... I call bs. If you can do a 158 in the kick your bass race score likely wouldn't break a 154

bassrace DEMO with windows DOWN, not sealed up. I HIGHLY believe i said that......and i have video and witnesses to prove it. Also, my kick score and sealed at the dash scores are only about 1db different. 156.5 dash at a dbdrag (highest) 157.4 kick at a usac show. These scores were with my older system that dont hit nearly as hard as what i have now.

It takes much more to put together a 20,000w rms system then you think......but you dont know because A. your a dont-know and B. you dont have a 20,000w system. actually, the beauty of my system is that i AM NEARLY as loud LOL. And without a wall. Im not AS loud but im not that far off......and if they want more recognition then they should go out and get more recognition. I know i for one will (and have) supported those guys as my bro's in the game. They, unlike you, are NOT all talk. The reason they dont talk shit is because people this high in the game dont do that about eachother. No offense to the nobody's but usually its the nobodys that talk the most shit. The big boys got mostly love for me - and its right back at them from myself.

my hairtricks are from 8 feet back in the cargo area with my port almost 10feet away aiming backwards toward the hatch......no wall here, no where near my B pillar. Im very lucky i can even do a hairtrick honestly....

actually, this forum is the only place ive really experienced hatred from "so many people", none of which are anything but a screenname to me........every place else is pretty cool with me. If you dont have idiot haters somewhere, then you arent doing it right (so ive been told). I have a 1000/1 ratio on people that are cool to those that talk shit. I guess i can deal with it.
