New AA SMD Woofer

Oh no not you again...LOL...you won't give that up will you?
Most people have no experience when it comes to doing boxes..they simply have NO clue or any know how of what works with the subs, that's why the recommendations are there.

They are not law; They are a rule of thumb to follow. I've told you once and i'll tell you this again. If you find something that YOUR ears like better then by all means do it. I'm not the person who has to listen to it..you do. It is what YOU like that is what matters. Call me a prick but at the end of the day I am correct, and I could care less if you do not like the guidelines that both Scott and I have set to follow for the subs. (Yes, we both set this stuff up..together.)

If you can't accept it that's fine..move on. It doesn't matter to me...i'm not changing the recommendations because of one person not liking them and can not accept the fact that they are nothing more then GUIDELINES to FOLLOW, or in other words a simple 'rule of thumb'

How many boxes do you actually think dBdrag and bass race guys are within our recommendations? How many SQ cars using infinite baffle installs do you really think follow the rule of 3x the Vas of the sub is the 'perfect' enclosure volume? How many do you really think shoots for the .707 Qtc butterworth formula in a sealed enclosure in an SQ car?

Generalizations sir, I've told you many times that is what they are. Yet you still have it drilled in your mind that is a law of acoustic science and hell will freeze over if you do not follow it...subwoofers are very simple pieces of work, their behavior is very typical..we simply are not talking about complex situations and very in depth acoustic research stuff that I work on for boeing/nasa and the military...we're talking about people playing...music?

Looks like hell hasn't frozen over yet now has it? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif
See this response I agree with man... But honestly about a year and a half ago I was considering using the 18 inch btl's or BL's I can't recall currently. Pretty sure BTL's. At that time the recommendations were 6 to 10 cubes. I go I only have 5 cubes after displacement to work with it still should work.. And you said NO 6 minimum. I said can we alter the suspension to make it work. NO you can not do less than 6 cubes period. ..... Now being so long this isn't verbatim BUT this is very close to what was said ... Now does this sound like guidelines ???? NO and you know it. You are a liar if you deny saying this because I am not the only one in the past this has been said to. Then I email scott around same time and he goes of course we can modify them to make them fit into 5 cubes

Can you explain that statement and why you think that? Thats like calling a car a train...... wheres the support?????
The kid is a foul-mouthed fool who has no idea... a fucking chucklehead...

He tries to justify the things he says by vague generalizations, and stupid bullshit. He's got nothing, nothing to show, nothing to back him up, NOTHING. Those who talk shit the most, are the one's that wish they had it the most. The time, money, skill, equipment, knowledge, enthusiast interest, etc, etc...

I haven't said much, because I don't admire Steve. I just think he's one of us, like me. He has a day job still, and he's an enthusiast... is addicted to +12v period... as am I.

I have to disagree with this, whille it may not make ur clothes move as much, 160 @ 60hz will DEFFFF hurt worse than a 154 at 40hz
Pressure is Pressure

But yes, if its just from outside or what not...the 40hz would sound louder...but not to the person sitting inside on both of those scores

6db difference is hugggggge regardless of freq

And any idea on price of this sub when it comes out?....just a guess would do?
If it were the same SPL though, the lower frequency is obviously harder to achieve. Hell, i've sat in front of a SS wall @ 169 ~51hz... shit made my heart stop and skip a beat...

Well there may be a few points I make to this whole convo but the first I would like to make.... Meades favorite defense.... Im not in a wall ha ha..... Ok lets take that into consideration... walls from suv's typically gain 1 to 3 db... So quit using that as a crutch. it isn't like a 10 db gain... And actually I have had a 10kw system and I realize the charging system is a nightmare. And I guess I worded it a bit incorrectly.... Anybody that has a general knowledge of the car and car audio could do what you did. And I ain't saying who said it so don't ask but somebody talked to scott and scott DID say he had something to do with your box design and I do believe you have a daily port and a SPL port but not going to get into that out of respect of the person that said it.... And lets even go a step further. Lets say that not anybody could do it. only 1 in 10 could do it with the money.... ok getting more impressive. but NO WHERE near the one in a 1,000,000 you get recognition for.
You're a trip. I don't see you out there doing it. All I see you doing is whining and bitching on the internet, how convenient. HOW CONVENIENT. If you got a passion to be loud, daily, quit being jealous and do it. Don't have the money? Save up. Then do it.

You're worthless, because you discredit others, and YOU have NOTHING to show for it. I feel sorry for you, maybe someday you'll get over the jealousy factor... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Because if you are asking me what to do then you do not have enough experience to do things differently then what we recommend, and do not understand the concept of a generalization or a guideline. Keyword, recommendation. I do not have your vehicle here, I do not have your install here, I am not doing your install. It's a matter and assumption of you simply do not know what you are getting into if you ask questions of that nature.

I've put BTL's in enclosures that the back plate sits on the back wall of the box and the enclosure fits around the edge of the basket, does that mean you should do it? No. I'm not going to tell you to do it either. I've got an 18 in a huge box downstairs tuned in the low 20's for home theater that has shaken this place apart...does that mean everybody should do it? No. Does it sound good? You **** right it does. The addage of a 'BTL can't sound good' is nothing but a myth. In the right hands you wouldn't have a clue what you were listening to unless I told you.

Will it work? Yep, that guy that has 6 15" BTL's in that green truck sealed is nothing short of a prime example of not following a recommendation and doing what he 'thinks' works best.

He'd pick up 3-6dB by flopping those subs out of that box and putting in Q's...but whatever...it's not my problem. I've told the guy that he shouldn't have did it..and he did it anyways because "Sealed boxes always sound better" is what he says. I shake my head and move on.

It's not a law of science, it is a generalization. If you can't get that through your head I don't know what to tell you. I will not change how I recommend things. Simply because you must realize that the VAST majority of people who buy these subs now it is their first install, they buy a hifonics 2006bxi amp build a box or get pete to build a box that god himself doesn't know what it's tuned to...beat the crap out of it and come knocking on our door because it's our fault that they do not know what a subsonic filter is. It's like taking a car from ford...driving it into the wall, repeatedly; and calling ford up every time you drive it into the wall and complain that it is their fault that you drove the car into the wall and they should replace it free of charge.

Thank Korea and cheap power for having to make everything 'idiot proof'...it was great years ago when you had to have money to buy a lot of power..because you started out with a pair of cheap subs and a 50 or 100 watt amp and were god....

Edit: For the sake of the conversation a BTL will work free air for all I care..it will work sealed, it will work infinite baffle..hell it will work when you hook a 9 volt battery up to it...it will make sound. But define what 'work' is, is it a characteristic of ideal musical performance...or just the mechanical flopping back and forth of the cone assembly making an acoustic wave? Regardless..it will 'work' (just the word in and of it self as you used) in any scenario...how well it will work and/or perform...now that kind sir is another story and the root of my entire argument of "Stick within the recommendations you'll be fine".

Thank you, and good night.

ps. vote for me, Bob Dole.

You are correct about one thing. Money is a Factor... And I DO have something.... But dont' worry I won't brag about it. we will just wait and see. And I am not going to go into it too greatly because honestly it is nobody's business. But I had to help family with some financial issues this year which kinda stopped my project for a while. But you are kinda correct about something else as well...... But kinda. NOT EVERYBODY but a great majority of people that whine and complain on here don't have anything and I don't doubt that... But I guess my actions will have to speak louder than my words. And I HAVE had impressive things. He talks about his peak score... With a wall but still. 4 audiobahn 15's and 2,500 watts with a pure daily tune (38hz) -3db was 29hz.Peaked at 50hz. Hit a 155.6 outlaw. So that is why I can talk. 3db down from him with 70 percent of the cone area and 12 percent of the power. And you can doubt the system fine enough. Alma gates has heard it personally and I assure you that is more cred than I ever care to question. So we can bicker of what people do and dont' have. But remember. Most of us are limited due to financial status NOT knowledge.....

THere again I realize what that means. But I wasn't aware of anything of FI at that time. I wasn't sure and that is why I ASKED YOU... And you said woudln't work in 5 cubes. So you are trying to manipulate the situation to fit to your arguement.... I realized online might not have been concrete. But when I asked the supposed "expert" I got a NO to 5 cubes... And the REAL expert scott I got an YES

In a daily install..if you do not have a ton of power, and it is not set up right. No it will not work properly.

It will peak high, hard, and not sound good. Will it 'work?' within the word of..'work' sure!!!! Will it perform the way that it ideally should? No.

But yep, i'm no expert...I just do acoustic related research for boeing, nasa, and the army.

I'm the dummy... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Keep telling yourself that.

Hmmmmmmmm So underpowering a sub causes it to peak high?................... ok I thought the more power the more the speaker tends to peak at a higher freq..... oh well ::shrugs:: lets just end this. the fact is steve meade gets undue fame . Now he seems like a great guy and seems very cool to anybody with questions about systems. I am not attacking him persay. Just the fame he gets when it is uncalled for

Apples and fucking oranges man...

You can't compare an SPL OUTLAW score... to a ground-pounding street score...

Of course, daily...to music... playing music... 30second average... HUGE difference compared to PEAK @50hz, outlaw, for 2-3seconds.

You are just fucking DENSE. Hell, by your logic... you're a piece of shit... because in my 92 Dakota truck I did a 152.3 with a single 15... street B style box... in the kick... WOWOWOWOWOW YOU ****!!! I did 3 dB down from you with 1/4 of the woofers... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

That system wasn't a one note wonder and it is was full range. And my system was perfectly even on both sides of vehicle. I didn't have a hot spot. I did a 155 plus in each kick and a 153plus legal sealed up

OK and you talk about my logic....... Meade says look with no wall. Last time I checked systems from the rear can meter ridiculous outlaw scores which is what meades prides himself on so you just took all cred away from him by that comment as well. All my systems are what I call "pure volume" no hot spots. Try to make them same volume on both side of car and not center it for outlaw. I try to design something that would do excellent in mic quatro. ANd if you recall I have never said his system isn't loud. just not impressive to me. not impressive enough for the fame. And I ain't even talking about me. There are so many people that have done so much more that don't get recognition. I find potts doing his 153 something reality and 155 outlaw or whatever it was off one kicker 2500.1 and two type R 12's much more impressive. Maybe it is my personal view but I am more impressed with designs getting loud and not money
