its not just that it has SMD on it in a tacky fashion...i wont be running that much power to a speaker....ever. there are many companies that have a sub that can handle that much power and look better. and who is this SMD character and why should his 'sub' be in my car/truck?

looks like this woofer is going to be able to handle the power better w/ the 4in coil, and i'm sure basket is merely used because it is more suitable with a coil of that size.

the basket does allow for better excursion i believe, though i don't think excursion is the concern with this subwoofer

old aa as in avalanches? havoks (which aren't really old, but the only AA sub i can think of that could compare to this) just based on the motor, 4 inch coil and rms, this should be louder than both.
i'm guessing it's intended as a piss loud daily driver sub, along the lines of the tc-5400 (with no lms)? no sq queen for sure, but i'm sure its no 1 note wonder.

i could give a **** less if a sub can take 10kw rms if it doesnt get loud. i'll run 1kw if it outperforms a 5kw sub.

thats right about the power i run, and i prefer a single ported 18 setup in my explorer. seems this is right up my alley, but i'm definitely waiting on some reviews before turning my back on my trusty 9518.

He's an ******* because of his attitude. He comes on here actin like he's hotshit cuz he can get someone else ot do a sub for him with his name on him and says he could care less about what we ( consumer ) thinks when all he would have to do is offer a different dustcap. He's an ******* and i hope he loses everything because of his stupidity.. IF it came to me making money id offer custom dustcaps with whatever we ( consumer ) wanted.
