70 to 300hz-ish? I would hope the kodas would have a much larger band than that...

I believe that the woofers are flat to 1khz. After that the fr curve just falls. Adire recomends, IIRC, for the driver to be crossed no higher than about 600hz and even that's pushing it.

But let me just give you this question, y would you want the Koda 8 to handle such frequencies? It's a huge woofer that has to mounted in doors probably off axis (so that it will fit). Wouldn't you want the koda crossed fairly low (on the high end) and let the midrange in kicks handle information at 300hz up?

I donno, maybe I wasn't clear, I want to use the kodas in a 3 way setup. These woofers (subwoofers basically) aren't meant to be matched up wiht just a tweeter.

IDK, I really just love a 2 way setup. And I definately thought the Kodas had more range than that, espically on the lower end. As far as mounting off axis and all that, my door pods will fit 8's I made them as such incase I changed my mind down the road. They are about as on axis as you can get in car.

only a prototype has been made

no 8" will have good 60 degree off axis past 1.5khz

and the koda isn't the most controlled 8" around

Err, I'd rather not level down these new Adire woofers, so I think I'll use a pair of WR125s' I have lying around here. The efficiency and sensitivity is way closer to the Koda 8s. IIRC, leveling down a high efficiency woofer changes teh sound completely.

that's your choice... leveling them down doesn't do much to the SQ at all... especially if you're doing it actively with your amp's gain //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

only thing I could think is if there's something that harms SQ within a passive resistor... but I can't think of anything and I've never heard it for anything I've done

the sound would undoubtably in either scenario best the pair of wr125's.... they don't have all that amazing distortion and hardly any output in comparison to mate with koda 8's

Hmmm, well then I may reconsider the use of the WR125s'. Level matching with amp gain and/or line processing would work, but there's just something different about the sound of a high efficiency woofer, especially during trancients. O well, not like I have the cash to do this now. I can decide later.
