neons draw how much power????

you do not want to hook them up to your remote wire.... you will starve not only the head unit but the amp as well if you have one hooked into the remote lead. if you really want to hook them into your player, hook them directly to the accessory power wire. Personally i have had neon setups with 9 neons hooked into my accessory power wire on the back of my player and never had a problem. you may have a wire on one or two of the neons backward, or a bad connection in the neon block itself. neons do not draw much at all but if they are wired wrong they will malfunction and screw stuff up. but like someone said the cigarette lighter is good. i have also hooked into my lights right by the gear shifter. this way the neons are only on when your head lights are on, but if you have a toggle switch in place that really does not apply to your situation. good luck

Yeah you are definitely drawing too much power from the radio.

I know my old pioneer could only put out 2-300 ma.

Which is plenty to turn on the relays inside amplifiers, but not enough to actually power anything.

The easiest way to do it would be to wire in a relay at the amp to turn on the led's.

It isn't pretty but I threw together a diagram to show you what I mean.

The diagram uses a BOSCH style relay like this one.

It is 12volts, but it's only rated to supply 500 mA (1/2 Amp) to 1 A max current. Your LED Neon tube draw less current than an old style neon tube, but they still will draw at least a couple amps of current.

That is more than your remote turn on lead can supply.

If you are connected to the remote wire (to supply power to your toggle switch) behind your radio just move the connection to your radios ignition source.

I don't know how much they draw. But my friend touched his tongue to the 9600v transformer? I believe that is what it is called.. too lazy to look it up right now. Shocked him good. that was all

This eliminates the toogle switch and would be IMHO the best setup also.

The remote turn on wire for most (or at least all i know of) HU is rated at between 500mA and 1 A max current draw.
You can sometimes get away with running LED's off most of them, but most true neon's draw way too much current.

If your running them off a toggle switch you can supply the toggle with a 12v (battery), although i usually supply an ignition controlled source, so if you forget to turn them off when you get out of the car you don't come back to a dead battery. If you want them to turn on whenever you have the radio on, you can just add a relay to the remote turn on wire.

Hope that helps

x2

Disconnect them immediately from the remote line! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif
