Negative run question...

You should run right back to the battery if possible. Makes a huge difference. Especially in todays vehicles which are 90% plastic, magnesium, etc....
I've actually seen people gain by going from a - run to a frame ground. Still not sold on the idea of ground runs. Especially in a daily.

I've always heard grounding batt to batt was the best way to ground. I'm tempted to take my ground run out and ground both batteries to the frame though. (Having ground issues at the moment)

what is the vehicle??? ive used, and do use the spare tire bolt for a solid ground with nuts and washers, and a ring terminal, and still keep the spare tire functionality?

most occasions, its a solid ground enough that ill run to a dist block to ground everything to keep it simple:santa:

It's a 2005 Malibu LS V6. That would be a long ground for me.... My rear batt is against the drivers side trunk wall, as I ran my power wire on that side. I think I'm going to find a better ground, use the Knu for that, and go ahead and run that spare Cadence to the front batt.... Can't really go wrong. Just went to kmart to pick up a fresh wire wheel and some sheet metal screw.

will that cheap cadence be good enough? it's amperage capability can't possibly match the knu's. but i was hoping that in conjunction with the current, or even a better ground in back, it would work fine.
I don't remember the reason behind it but your not supposed to mix wires like that, your + needs to be the same as the - on a circuit. I would think you can still look up why but I don't remember where I read it.

Pfft. I gguess I fail then because all of my shit is a mix and match conglomeration from hell.

like I said , I have no clue why all I can remember is electricity flows down + through the item consuming it and back up the - line, so I guess using a different gauge wire in that circuit "could" cause an unwanted rise in impedance and a block in electrical flow.

Electron theory states it moves from negative to positive. If anything, you want your ground larger than your power since your power is the one that's fused.

I read it a LONG time ago all I could remember is it is not recommended, but thanks for the refresher. also wouldn't you still want them the same as it really wouldn't matter what direction it's flowing a smaller lead would still cause a impedance rise in the power wire?

It's fixed. I feel like a retard after I noticed the problem. The terminals on the wire that were on the YT's side posts weren't getting a good connection because they were 1/4 inch rings (bought em by accident a long time ago) that I had drilled out to 3/8 AND FORGOTTEN TO DEBURR! Geez. They weren't sitting completely flush with the battery, or each other (there'e 2 on each terminal). It was really hot, and I got in a hurry towards the end of the install. I used a hammer and anvil, and then the wire brush on the drill, to make em all smooth again. I'm still going to do a neg run after I buy some more knu. Maybe. ...I plan on getting a dual 2 ohm sub and some 1/0 cca in the future anyway.... Thanks guys.
