Where are the good ground points in a 2008 VW Passat?

Hello,

anyone with a VW Passat Wagon out there?

I installed a Stinger 2150 in my trunk and hooked up the negative lead to the trunk lock....I've read that the trunk lock is not the best choice in general but it seems to be one of the only better options I had. I basically took the lock off which is bolted to a solid piece of frame, sanded off all the paint and sandwiched the ring terminal between frame and lock.

Since I do not have my woofers yet I could not test the system, but I'm keep wondering if there is a better spot for the negative lead.

Well, as said before, is there anyone with a VW Passat Wagon and some good pointers?

where your spare tire is,the bolt that holds the spare in place ive used in several vehicles with by removing the spare tire out,running a nut downthen a washer,then 4ga with ring terminal,then another waser,then nut,and tighten those up secured,then you still have the function of the spare tire access with no issues,and have a secured ground..i usually run that 4ga to a non fused dist block for grounding everything..works very well..check that out..//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/santa.gif.e1ec9cf2e0a0dd232ad35aa594a126d0.gif

Thank you very much for the information but that does not work with the Passat as the whole spare tire housing is plastic.....

I've found another spot which would may work but it is about 5-6 feet away from the battery. It is a bracket which connects the roof pannel to the frame....that spot would be probably better that the one I have now hm...?

don't use existing bolts. those serve their own purposes.

best ground point is the floor. drill a hole, sand it free of paint on the inside (use masking tape to only sand an area the size of the ring terminal), then use a bolt/washer/nut to secure the ground wire ring terminal to the floor, then seal with silicone from below.
