ok i am redoing my old school 1988 jimmy and unfortunatly i pulled off the door panel and was like wow! the guy i got it from was mexican and had this shit jacked up in the panel. half cut 6.5 hole and a square hole with a 3.5 inch speaker duct taped to it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

i ripped all that crap out and now i wanna try a 3 way crossover with a woofer, mid and tweet in a custom door pod. thing is i have never been a sq guy so im lacking on what equipment. i need it to be budget friendly. im not looking for cdt or anything like that. just something that wont sound like shit.

links would be greatly appreiciated!

passive or active? honestly... the easiest way to go 3 way in my opinion... get a small 2 way passive set, 4" or 5.25, run them on the front channel of a 4 channel crossed in the 200-300hz territory, get a set of dedicated midbass 6.5"-8" and run them on the rear channel from 200-300hz down, then set the high-pass on the headunit at 60(ish)hz so you bandpass the midbass from 60-250ish, highpass your components from 250ish + and then set your subwoofer up like you normally would. I know it sounds complicated but its a set of a components and midbass and a 4 channel amp. CDT makes a 4" component set for 100$ and as far as midbass, mach5 mli 65's are amazing

its basically a hybrid active/passive setup, your running the 8" active, your running the 4" and tweet in a passive component set. hope that made sense, and your midbass doesn't have to be 8", the mli 65 from mach 5 and the peerless SLS 6.5 are both very exceptional midbass options

ok so it can be like a 6.5 mid, and then a 6.5 component set? i kinda wanna buy the same brand because in the door pod they will be exposed and i would like it to look nice and matching for that reason lol

i don't think the mach 5 or the peerless have anything stamped on the cone that says they didn't come with the set, i could be wrong. and yes, you could run a 6.5" component set with a 6.5" dedicated midbass, just make sure your crossovers are set correctly
