what type of box are the Comp VR 12's in now? You may need a different box well over subs...

no---your gain should be matched with your input. there is a gain setting tutorial in the amp section

a correctly designed ported enclosure will make a huge difference in sound. Your bass will drop harder and boomier and will generally be louder in my opinion and experiences.

well how much space do you have and in what type of vehicle?

kicker recommends at least 1.75cf^3 per sub for the 12" cvr
