Need to recone x8

Lol just trying to expand my knowledge man... I'm not sure how much box rise I'm getting if I'm getting rise over 2ohm with my setup I'd like to be able to wire lower if I did switch the bad one over to two ohm and it wouldn't hurt anything I'd be able to cut .25 box rise out

Well that was a decent little article... At .66 my amp would be safe... Now I just need to find some literature on if it would be safe for my woofers or if one would be trying to draw more power like grimy suggests... But I'm thinking once the subs are wired together they will both see and demand the same impedance

No I think he may have been correct in stating one will be drawing more power than the other. If you look at the math, you are just adding the amperage draw of the two drivers together. So they will still be drawing what they draw as if they where by themselves. The final number is just what your amp see's, and so has to be able to provide said amperage draw of the combined drivers.

So you will have to be careful not to overdrive the one driver!

Unless you wire both subs to the same impedance, you will be giving one sub more power than the other and that causes all sorts of problems.

Only time I would imagine it to be "ok" is if for example you wired a d1 in series to 2 ohms and a d4 in parallel to 2 ohms and then wired them both to 1 or 4 ohms in parallel/series respectively.

Even then I don't think it'd be a good idea because a d1 is technically dual .7 and a d2 is technically a dual 1.4

Wired like so if I had the d2 on the right side wouldn't it just make them both see the same load?

I'm pretty sure the coils on these sundowns actually real higher than said rating the d4 comes out to 5 and the d2 is above as well not lower like fi and aa

"fairy tale" is ok...

But in real life, I hope you don't based on what these guys said. And as I said before, why complicate things? K.I.S.S.

Btw...what happened to that poor x8?

What your amp see's and what your drivers are receiving regarding amperage are two different things.

Your amp see's the two drivers as combined, and so put's out power appropriate for that ohm load.

Once the electrons leave the amplifier and travel down the wire to your speakers it is a whole different story.

The two drivers have different ohm's so will be receiving different amounts of amperage!!! So one WILL be running hotter than the other!!!

Manufacture defect... Not gonna be covered by warranty... Purchased from emf out of their show truck they claim they tested it and nothing was wrong with it when they sent it... It's had spider slap since the first min I put power to it... I tried taking it out prying the spider up... Glued to a Ring that screws down on the spider and re epoxying it back down... Made no progress so I've been playing it and noticed this the other day
