Need to get back into a truck/suv, any suggestions before I begin my search?

My 200o Grand Cherokee with the V8 is the shit. I picked it up fully loaded for $5100 our the door. The power is very surprising to me and anyone who rides with me. Jeep is awesome anyway......very easy to work on and parts are everywhere.
I start to love the GC's more and more when i look at black, and blue ones. lol

What kind of gas mileage are you getting? It says 12/15 on fueleconomy.com but i think that is a bit low?

See thats the thing.
My acura's repairs are so **** expensive:

Rebuilt ****** 3-4000

T-belt, water pump- 1200

Valve adjustment- 600

all coming up in the next year or so (minus the ****** lol)

What kind of mileage do you get on your t-hoe.
I replaced my own water pump $65 and about 2 hrs of my time.

i get about 17 mpg on my v8 5.7l engine. I have also installed electric fans and an msd ignition. both combined probably boosted my mpg's by about 3 per gallon-and the electric fans and MSD ignition system-came to less $$$

than your valve adjustment.

I loved my 95 limited 5.2L AWD, I beat a v6 firebird in a street race. But everytime I filled up my mpg was between 12-16 mpg

I have the on board computer and it's usually reading a little over 14 mpg average. I drive mostly on base at 30 mph or below though so you could definitely get better. I have a Wrangler and bought the GC just to have something to drive my kids around in. I have been more than impressed with it...........so much that my wife thinks I'm nuts for how attached to it I am especially since I have had some nice vehicles. Durangos **** they **** gas and they have no power to show for it. My wife has a TB and that is okay but the v6 gets the same gas mileage as me and has no power. The only other SUVs I would consider in this size range would be the X5 or the ML55 and they are way out of the price range. You can't go wrong with a V8 GC.

99 tahoe. or the burban. 5.7 350! my dad got one for under 6 and 114K on it. i know alot of people who own that year and ended up getting another one after that. my buddy who is a mechanic has the 99 burban and loves it with over 200k on it. great vehicle and easy to work on!
