would it still sound good if i made ported though? (i already have my box half way done.) but as u said, i would be able to run up to 1k rms in the alpine? i already know how the duel vc works, i was just wonderin if the amp will give that power and not get too hot.

If ported correct you will get lots of bass, but may lose some sound quality, but not much if tunned correct.....your amp may run hot I dont know anything about this amp, but I would pick up a jbl 600.1

yeah, i should have no problem tuning it, i got snake tube ports that i can change the length in (kinda like a bendi straw).

ok guys, sorry, but i just found another woofer that needs to be compared to the Alpine Type R. This woofer is the Kicker 12" L7 or the Kicker 15" L5. I have an amp that will dish out 800 watts rms. which one will get the loudest without having much distortion. i am still right to go with my gut feeling and get the alpine? also, does anyone know of anywhere that i can get a shocker xtreme III for about $250 tops, and if it will go good with this amp http://www.savinglots.com/lotprod.asp?item=vibe245 ?

Depends on what you want more spl or sq.....the kicker solobaric will give you more bass, but the alpine with give you better sound quality......tha amp will be fine for either sub.....

how much better spl does the solobaric have and how much better sp does the alpine have. does the alpine still have the better combo?

I dont know exact, but the alpine has probably 1/3 better sq, but again the solobaric kicks it *** in bass........the alpine has the better combo I would say, but for the price you could get a jl audio 12w6 or a jl audio 15w3.....

No, I cant get exact, but I can guess.....I think the alpine would hit between 130 and 138......the jl audio would probably be between 134 to 140 the kicker would probably be about 132 to 138 so you can check around and see what others say...........
