Need Subwoofer advice

It's time to retire my old system that I've had the past 7yrs. I'm looking to buy 2 12"subwoofers and a amp to power them, but I'm not up-to-date on which are good speakers to purchase. My current system:2 12"MTX Thundercast(not the thunder series you see today..discontinued years ago) 1000watts, MTX2300 amp, which are housed in a ported box within a Mustang coupe. What would be a good pair of speakers for hard-hitting low bass? One other thing I never was sure on is the difference between 2,4, and 8ohm speakers. I guess the lower ohm speakers can handle more power, and have a less chance of frying?

how much airspace is the enclosure if you want to sue the same box? Also, at what ohm load does the amp put out max power at? Budget?

coil configs are for the amp load ohm....

I would like the use the same box, but im not sure on the cu ft of airspace. The amp I believe puts out 250x2 regular, and 750x2 bridged. Budget is around 500 bucks

if that amp is in good working order you r in good shape! its 750 rms @ 4ohms mono. it is underrated though. you need two subs with a final load of 4 ohms. this means you need two dual 4 ohm subs. the sky is the limit. what brands do you like? if you wanna keep it cheap but good 2 12" comp vr's would fit the bill.
