alt whine gone when RCA touches HU chassis

Sorry about the long title. Here's the story, if you just want to plain answer my question, just skip to the bold, thanks.

Already well I installed my system to what I thought was very good. I took a day just to run the wires and put everything back perfectly. I took my time installing everything and making sure everything worked correctly. Ill post pics in a couple days.

Anyways one day I was driving and *something* happened, its hard to explain as I don't remember exactly what happened, but there were some bad noises and some dimming lights (obviously amps clipping). Everything still works fine but now I have alt noise. I regrounded my HU the other day and it went back to normal, no alt whine. Well I went over a bump, now its back!

I pulled out my HU, and realized that if both of the rca preouts (that are not being used, just dangling) touch metal-metal of the HU chassis, the whine and horrid noise goes away. What in the heck does this mean? Do I have to ground the metal shell of the RCA preouts? Thanks for any help guys

where is da bold where is da bold, give us dee bold, we looking for da bold. where da bold at?

If the RCA's are the case, just wrap electrical tape around the ends of them. Hopefully problem will be solved

thanks for responses. sorry I copy/pasted from another forum and I guess I forgot to bold the first one. I will try doing what you suggested.
