I just took out my MMATS 500.1 and SQ2150, and installed a Kicker ZX700.5. I just used all the same wiring. My new box is wired to 2 ohm (4 D4 subs) correctly. The problem I'm having is the amp is going into protection at a high volume. I'm only using 2 of the 4 channels for the components up front (4 ohm), rear doors (3 ohm not a typo weird ohm load), and 4 x 10's (4 ohm). Would the mids and highs send the amp into protection since those channels are only 2 ohm stable. Like I said I just used the speaker wires that were already there.

LOL

your running 8 speakers(4 mids/high and 4 subs) off a 5 channel amp?

Yes. I didn't think it would be a problem since the MMATS amp was 2 ohm stable as well. I'm far from an installer. I'm just trying to avoid getting another amp. I guess i could get the front doors and rear doors each on a channel, and have the 4 x 10's powered by the head unit.

You want to power 4 10s off of your headunit?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

So basically I'm an idiot, and the door and roof speakers can send the amp into protection. It plays them fine, until I turn the bass on.

No it's a Tahoe and it has 4" x 10" speakers in the rear roof. Thanks for the sarcasm.

wait so you you are running a set of components(front doors), a set of mids(rear doors) and 4x10(rear) speakers using the 4 channels?

so including the subs you have 12 speakers running off that amp?

or the 4x10 arent hooked up yet?

Yes the 4 x 10's are hooked up and yes 12 total.

basically your running way too much off that amp, buy another one
Do you think it would handle the components and the 4 subs? I could run the rear doors and roof speakers off the head unit. I didn't think the sub channel mattered as long as it was 2 ohm.
