Where do yall ground your trunk battery at? Im not sure if I should use seatbelt bolt or not. Suggestions and pictures would be very much appreciated (SP?)
Seatbelt bolts aren't great. Best to build your own ground, just bolt to the car body. Be sure to clean off any paint & use a star lock washer for a good contact.
Thats what I thought. So I should Drill a hole in the trunk (Of course look before drilling lol) Drill a small hole in the frame? Bolt in down and caulk the shit out of the hole when done? Do this sound right? How long should the ground cable be? Thanks
ground cable should be as short as u can make it. I grounded it to a hole that my spare tire was held onto (no more spare tire). Of course sand it down completely to get the best possible connection.
Drill straight into the gas tank & stuff the wire down in that hole...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
(kidding)
Shortest cable possible, but 2' or 5', not real important. I'd hot glue the whole thing after bolting it up, caulk will work too. Nail polish. spray paint. Or nothing at all.
You can see I grounded it with the grey 1AWG wire, the red one is from the amp.(yes there is a bolt there, I used the electrical tape just for safety, dont want anything accidently falling loose and grounding out.)
Just a random pic
It's a temporary install until I make a frame to hold the battery better. Belive it or not its rather sturdy right now, but im still planning to make it look cleaner/neater.
Actually, seatbelt bolts work as good as any other ground point on your car, since all the metal on your car is a ground plane. I've been using the rear seat belt bolts in my cars for years. Never one problem.
