Need some ideas

Ive tried searching the forum for a few but nothing was too specific to my situation. I am hoping someone can throw some guidance my way.

I have a 2012 Access cab Tacoma. I am running a single 12" audiopipe txx-be12 with a jackhammer monoblock amp (its rated at 600w rms but i think its pushing a lot more). The box is MDF and ported - i think its somewhere near 3cf.

Right now my amp is turned down quite a bit, the sub cant handle the full load from it. I do not like the set up i currently have. Its tacky and getting in the way. I have to be able to access both of my rear seats, the box is sitting on one of them currently.

I have designed a box which will go in between both of the seats allowing functionality. It will house 2 10"s. It will be near 1.5-1.65cf sealed. The subwoofers will be downfiring with a 2" clearance on the bottom for allowance of excursion and airflow.

I am thinking either RE SX 10"s, or Diamond D3/D6 10"s. Ive already checked the specs and either or recommend optimally .75cf sealed for each 10".

The box will fit in between here:

Like this (but a lot taller - this one houses a single 10"):

Here is what i have drawn up:

Now to my main questions:

How much bass am i going to lose downsizing to 10"s?

How much bass will I lose going from a large ported box to a smaller sealed box?

I like my amp, but I can replace if need be. I definitely think its possible to really get some juice out of it running it into two 10"s.

Thanks for any help given.

Can yout stick the subs on the side? as far as output it could be effected more by the sub placement i believe versus you going from ported to sealed.

dont stick the subs on the sides of the box trust my it wont work right. down firing will work well for u but i reccomend pulling the carpet back and throwing a bit of deadener down on the floor to make the floor resonate less and work better as a load barrier it shouldnt take much a door kit can prolly do the tunnel with some extra. id suggest something along the line of an image dynamics id10 or ssa icon 10 over the re or the diamond subs. a pair of these will use your amp to the fullest and if you decide to up grade amps they can take a bit over rated power. the id10 and its clone the arc 10 are my favs for sealed boxes they perform above my expectations in every way. and since you will have two 10s compared to 1 12 you will most likely be louder especially since you were under powering the audiopipe.

Im pretty set on downfiring due to the speakers being protected, sound quaility, and cleanliness. I appreciate the help though!

Ok. I really like the image dynamics line. I have ran a Diamond M6 15" before and was just completely thrown off guard by its abilities - thats why i wanted another one. Never heard of SSA? Ill look it up. Thanks a lot man. Good call on the sound deadening too. Do you think it will really reasonate that much? Its not like im running 3-4000watts?

Bandpass? Hmm.. havent thought of that - although im not sure i will have enough space to design a box to work properly for that kind of application.

i dont have much experience with diamond audio but they have stopped making the d6 i have heard it was a great sub but from my personal experience the id10v3s have been the best subs on that power that i have heard. another good option would be the old school re re10s not the rex10s.

the floor is going to resonate quite a bit more than u would think. just think about it the floor is going to be buffeted with air pressure constantly when the subs are in use. down firing uses the floor as a load barrier to force the energy in the form of vibrating air in the direction u want the sound to go so the stiffer the floor, the less amount of air vibration is lost by energy transfer in the form of resonating panels.

im only running 900w total power in my truck and i have ore invested in sound deadener than i do in my amps which for me is around $650. deadening my doors, floor and back wall help tremendously. i dont want my bass to be heard outside of my vehicle that would get me tickets but inside my truck ive managed to keep a good amount of bass even with my $80 rockford shallow subs. ive had my days of massive bass and now im tired of not being able to use my mirrors or listen to actual cds(the cds used to skip the bass was causing the radio to vibrate so much)

id stay away from bandpass boxes with the power u have on tap coupled with the space u have u can get more from a simple sealed or ported box. plus bandpass boxes are a b!tch to design and build
