Need some help with my setup... 2x JL 12W6v2 & Kenwood x1200

My amp only goes up to 0.2.
Any deck won't have preouts with a lower voltage than 1.8 or so.

I think I'm leaning toward just running one of the w6's and getting a single 12 box. That will save me some trunk space and 1 of those 12's should be enough in a ported box... I'll run this amp for now but am still up for suggestions. Is there anything newer that is easier to come by that would be a good match for the 12? Maybe the JL 500/1?

You set the gain to match the head unit's preout voltage. My HU has 5 volt preouts, so I set the gain to 5v.

No head unit will have 0.1 volt preouts. That is much too low and overdrove your amp, which killed it.

Sorry but I believe you're incorrect... The amp must be adjustable somehow and the input sensitivity is the only way to adjust the amp's output. The remote controller that you can purchase for the amp to adjust the gain simply controls the input sensitivity remotely so it seems fairly obvious that it is a normal thing to adjust the amp in this manner...
