Need some Alt install help!

I think my stock Alternator is dead so Its finally time to install my High Output Alt. The only problem I see right away is of course I need to add a 200Amp fuse and 0awg wire to the stock existing wire at the alt. The problem I see is I am not sure how to do this. This Alt came with a binding post exactly like the original. And the original wire has a connection harness that covers the whole Binding post on the Alt. I know all I need to do here is cut that off, and put a new connector on the end. Anyway here are some pics to help explain as I go on.

This is the original Post...

Of course with the way I need to do this I can not keep the plastic piece in there I assume.

This is what it looks like with the plastic gone.

Could I put a nut on like this...

Then attach my new wire, and the stock wire like so..

With a nut on top of that to tighten it all together?

I am just not sure if I will get proper connection this way or not? Any ideas? Thanks

Is it ok to connect it the way its shown in the last few pictures? Or do I need to get connectors with smaller holes to closer fit the post?

U need a plastic!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif the case of the alt is negative, the post is giving out positive... jeeez dont burn anything... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

EDIT::: I'd use some kind of plastic there... just to be safe... even if its not the stock thing u had there... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Ok I understand what your saying. I guess I could shave some of the plastic off to make it able to protect it. I will for sure have to find different connectors though that are not as thick, as there is not enough post there to put 2 nuts, and two Positive connections on the post with the plastic on too.

Thanks again. I got the Alt put in the car today, and I was able to keep the plastic in as you said. Turns out the Positive Stud was longer on the new alt vs. the old to allow me to connect a 0 awg wire just fine. I have to wait a few days for my 0 awg crimping tool to get here, so in the mean time, I plan to strip my car tomorrow and re-wire, and install more sound deadening material. Then I can finally get my sub installed!! I have been without a sub for about 7 months now lol.
