Need some advice

Well I blew my jbl 600.1 amp today. Smoke starting pouring out of it, so I figure it is toast.

What do you think would be a better option of these two.

1. Replace the amp with something similar but with more power. I had the gain up way to high on the jbl because it wasn't hitting hard enough. Stupid thing to do I know. BTW the sub is a 10" Rockford HX2 (500 rms).

2. My mid/highs are powered by a rockford power 800.4. I was thinking of ditching the back 4x6 plates(infinity kappa) since they don't add much and bridging those two channels for the sub. But my sub can only be wired to 2 or 8 ohms as far as I know. It's a dual 4ohm sub. So I'd need a new sub since the rockford amp isn't stable bridged at 2ohms and 8ohms wouldn't give it enough power.

Any sub recommendations for the second option. My amp will push 400w rms bridged at 4 ohms.

Any help is appreciated.

if your jbl was 600 @ 2 ohms rms, and your drive is 500 rms also at 2 ohms...and its not loud enough? sounds like you need more woofers, bigger woofers, and more power to me

It just didn't sound that good with gain down. I turned it up pretty high and it sounded perfect so I just left it like a dumbass. I've been reading that the HX2's are power hungry so maybe that was it.

Also, my box is about .7 cubic feet sealed for any sub recommendations.
