Hey guys,
I need help setting up some front stage speakers for my daily driver. Basically I got a bunch of speakers laying around from some parts cars I had. Here's the setup I'm going to end up using. I have the Boston Acoustics RX67 (Rally Series) 6.5'' Midrange speakers and I'm assuming the tweeters that went along with it.
However I do NOT have the crossover's that went with it. Now i'm basically trying to decide at what point I want to set the crossovers. I've been looking @ parts express (this page specifically: http://www.partsexpress.com/webpage...ectGroup_ID=194) to see what they have to offer, and basically I'm trying to figure out what points I need to cross over the mids and tweets at.
I'm assuming the points listed on the crossovers, ex: aka ~800hz and 5000hz are a low pass (800hz) and a high pass (5000hz for the tweets).
Now I'm also going to have a sub (ed 13kv2) in the setup so i'm assuming I should have a high pass @200hz for the mid also, and let the sub handle all the low end frequencies.
So basically, I'm trying to figure out what points I need to cross the component set @. Also the Tweeters have a 4.7mf cap on the back, I don't know if that was there from factory or added by the previous owner.
Also Trying to figure out if I should run the BA rx67s in a IB setup or sealed. I'm trying to get some tight and crisp mids. The Sub will be sealed and I'm looking for more a less a SQ setup.
If I go sealed will I be able to push a bit more power reliably to the Rx67s? I think I can get a .25 - .3cu ft sealed enclosure fairly easily in my setup. The Amp I'm using is an infinity digital 100 which puts out ~100x2 @ 4ohms. I'll keep the gains low to start until final tuning is done.
Simplification:
1) For the Boston Acoustics RX67 Midrange and the Tweeters that went along with the Rally Series, What crossover points would be appropriate? Or should I go with an adjustable electronic crossover and play around with it?
2) Does the 4.7mF cap on the back of the tweeter affect its performance in any way that I should worry about?
3) Sealed or IB for hte Rx67s? If sealed how big/small of an enclosure?
4) How does this setup sound:
Boston Acoustics RX67 + Tweeters
Infinitly Digital 100 100x2 @ 4ohm (speakers)
ED 13kv2 Dual 2 0 in 1cu ft sealed enclosure
Pioneer 400x1 @ 4ohm
This setup is for my DD, trying to get something halfway decent. How will the SQ be on this setup? I'll probably end up upgrading the speakers to the CDT CL61a's from my other car when its back up from my rebuild and I upgrade those.
Thanks in advance,
