the story....

Bought an RE MT from a member here. Had a brand new motor and a fresh recone. Tested the coils when it arrived and they were fine. Kept it boxed up for 30 days or so because I didnt have the means to hook it up. Decided to go a new route so I sold it. Labeled it as a new motor with a fresh recone. When it arrives the new owner hooks it up an immediately realizes that it is not right. Takes it to an RE dealer and learns that it has a bad recone job. My buyer files a paypal claim for the price of a new recone and frankly, I dont blame him. I believe he is owed the money, and he will recieve it.

My question....

I feel I am owed the money for the recone from the guy I recieved it from. It was not damaged from playing it. It was from a bad recone job.

What is your opinion?

I am at work and have to get offline but I will check back with any questions.

mikescanlon is who I sold to and he can answer any questions pertaining to the sub.

I think your right, you should also get your money back from the person you bought it from. Its not fair if your the only one refunding money when it was the original owner who got a bad recone.

SHOULD you get your money back from the original seller? Of Course...... how hard is that going to be to do?

I would compare it to climbling Mt. Everest............ good luck.

Contact the person you bought it from and see if you can get some money back and if that doesn't work out, file a claim with PP..

Off topic: Did you ever get that piece i sent you ?

You shouldn't have sold something w/o checking it first. I wouldn't really expect anything from the first guy either, you had it for a month, more than enough time to **** it up. (I wouldn't be happy about it though)

If someone told me they wanted money from me because something I sold to them was found to be broken by the person they sold it to I'd laugh at them.

That's harsh, but you asked for honestly.

I do understand where you're coming from though.

i bought it from tapout, he's a cool guy, the only way to know this was broken was to put it in a box and use it, the cone was crooked, but the coils read properly, and it moved about the amount you'd push it with your hand, properly.

he never built an enclosure for it, so there is no way he could have known.

tapout has been the best seller ever.

thanks for the input.

Like the other guy said, I can understand frustration and wanting to get money back, but honestly I doubt you'll ever see any.

The seller is responsible for problems with the merchandise. In this case, you are the seller. Unfortunately for you it was sold to you broken, and you decided not to test it before reselling it. Either way, you are still the one who sold it. Any problems with the original sale should have been resolved before it changed hands again.

trying to get your money back is going to be quite difficult because you're going to want your money back from the original seller then he's going to try to get money from where he bought it from and so on. Hopefully everything will work out. good luck.

This I actually don't think you should get your money back. Yes, you should refund the money for a new recone. YOU should have tested it before you went and sold a reconed woofer. I'm sure you have something to hook up a speaker to, even if it is free air. If you would have tested it to begin with, you could have had the chance to get your money back, or get the money for new recone. It sucks that you're out that money for now, but this is your own fault for not testing it and making the person pay for it then.
