Digital Drive 1812 Signature Edition

"When Velodyne announces a new subwoofer, the earth trembles - literally." Stereophile's Guide to Home Theater.

Velodyne's flagship product, the Digital Drive 1812 Signature Edition, is the industry's first two-way, all digital, High Gain Servo controlled subwoofer. It is the most powerful subwoofer ever built. With the Signature 1812 you recreate the power and force of bass you feel in your stomach along with the speed and tightness you get from the snap of a kick drum. This benchmark in subwoofer technology is also the first to incorporate Velodynes patent pending Digital Drive room analysis and correction system.

Features

* 12" (9.7" piston diameter) woofer to reproduce the upper bass frequencies

* 18" (15.2" piston diameter) driver to recreate the lowest frequencies

* 2500 watts (1250 x 2) RMS

* 6000 watts (3000 x 2) of dynamic power

* On-board digital room equalization package with 8 bands of digital parametric and on-board signal generation for audio and video display

* 3" Dual Tandem Voice Coils and carbon-fiber cones

I love how when you look at the picture/drawing that brags about the design of the box and bracing... it shows a totally different box than the actual one. Drawing shows aero ports, actual is slot port.... drawing shows subs mounted diagonally across baffle, actual clearly shows them mounted in-line.

So, obviously this design has changed, drastically, and they were too lazy/dumb to even change their technical drawing before publishing. Gee thanks for the break-out technical drawing of some totally different box.

Now that Velo sub looks nice.

That is not including the shipping material.

That is the weight of the loaded cabinet alone.

With shipping materials and pallet, ide guess around 470-480.

The cost is also shipped.

We havent had time to update the internal pictures, and we wanted to get the product up and on the site.

The real internal pictures.

1" wood on the bracing and 2" thick walls.

Actually, in order to get the product on the site, I copied the images from another item. I don't have photoshop on my computer so me making new tiny images isn't going to happen, it's something Ben is working on.

FWIW, I haven't EVER changed the design of the A7-900 since I created it.

Well the 435 pounds is the weight of both 18" driver, plus the weight on the amp, plus the weight of the enclosure, and all the materals used for packing it.
Still real big, but it's not the same as a strait 435 pound sub.
Right, of course... in home audio generally the term "sub" means "powered sub with enclosure" -- but yah, that is correct //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

So it more important to get wrong info up right away then to get the right info when its ready? At the very least it would have been a good idea to note the drawing was over another product utilizing the same internal bracing.

What are the drawings of? You have another extremely similar product, aparently?

Someone brought up a valid question... 66 inches of port area is pretty small for those sized drivers... what gives?
