Ok im making a box for an explorer for my death penalty 15s and need about 8 cubes tuned to 35HZ.. I just would like some fellow forum members to go over my plans to make sure im correct.

measurements im working with... 41"W x 20"D x 27"D = 22140

22140 divided by 1728 = 12.81 cubes

after wood displacement = 8.972 cubes (using 1.5in thick wood)

Port info... Im shooting for 35hz tuning using 4 square like ports

each port is 4"H x 6.5"W

I used carstereo.com to do the numbers and i got 21.29" long to give me a 35hz tuning

each port volume was .14316

so that times the number of ports (4) = .57 cubes for my total port displacement

(using .75 wood for my port)

each sub displaces .22 cubes...two 15s would displace .44 cubes

.57 + .44 = 1.01

8.972 - 1.01 = 7.962 rounded up to 8 cubes of airspace for my subs.

someone please correct my math if its wrong and help me out...By the way, subs will be facing up and ports facing hatch along the bottom of the enclosure.

couple things. If your ports are not using a side of the bax as a wall then the displacment dimmensions are 4.75 x 7.25 x length.

You have to count port material and the port for port displacment.

This is going to change the efective box volume.

Remember calculate tunning after accounting for port and speaker displacment.

thanks man....is that my only problem?

this is about 9.4 cubes tuned in the mid 30's with 120sqin of port. does that work?

Yep. But that is going to effect way to much to keep those box dimmensions. Each port is going to end up at least .60 - .75ft^3. So a total of 2.4 - 3ft^3 in port displacment.

That knocks your NET volume down drastically.

that should fit yer car without problems. just had to make it 23" tall instead of 20. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

and on a second note, you will have to double check the mounting diamater of your sub - because i just put 15" there and it might be different - //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

thanks again Req. u came through for me.

heres what i gathered for my cutsheet:

Top/bottom: 41"W x 27"D (4sheets)

Sides: 20"H x 24"D ( 4 sheets)

Front/back 20"H x 41"W (4 sheets)

Vent: 19"D x 20"L x 6"tall (1 sheet)
