hey i went to put my stereo in my new car and the amp hadn't been used for months and everytime i run it the amp works for a few seconds and then the fuse blows and it smokes what is wrong with it

it smokes? sounds like the amp is done to me. are you trying to run it at too low of an ohm load? what size power and ground wire you have? better yet what amp is it? what size fuse? where is the fuse located? little more info will help a lot.

its a jensen puts out 300 watts i have a 8 power and ground wire 30 amp fuse on the amp and a 50 on the power wire

sounds like its all squared away. maybe you have a cut in you power wire and it is touching the chassis. if thats not it, then your amp is done for
