Need quick help. Alternator ground.

Just trying to be safe rather than sorry. My Ho alty (mechman) has two bolts on it, one is labeled battery, the other is not labeled. Is this second bolt a ground? The stock alty only had one bolt //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

see that elastic washer? positive.

I think the one without the washer that is in contact with the alt's casing could be is used as negative.. soo youre correct

nope.

I emailed mechman a while back for installation pointers. He told me to make sure i ground it with 1/0 straight to the frame for best results.

sssoo, im going to guess it has to be ground, seeing the other is positive, and the only other bolt spot ( other than the mounting spots, which are grounds already) is this one bolt in discussion.

I was just hoping someone could give me a definitive answer hehe

It is a grounding point. I would double up on the 1/0, and also ground your battery there. Be sure to ground directly to the frame, and if you do not have a chasis then ground to the layered sheet metal of your unibody and not a single ply of metal.

mechman includes a handy little grounding post.. that is it. The one labelled bat is the alt charging post.
