Need people that know what they're talking about. Fact not just opinion.

T subs have always Intrigued me. I really don't have A reason why. I guess cause they look beefy! The local shop by me sells those and they even told me they need a lot of power a huge box and blow easily... I'd be pissed if I spent that much on subs only to have them pop... I almost bough one to have one. After I joined here, I found most say ssa or other brands are better, cleaner sound quality and build! Bough an ssa 12 and am super pleased.

More cone area always makes a differance. Then your electrical, amps, box design the music you listen to also make it a factor. It don't matter how loud on the outside. It matters how it sounds on the inside. I can take two cheap Sony explodes and in the right box make them just as loud as kicker. So what are you really asking? No one can tell you what you will like better it's your ears. Too many factors need to be addressed like car, placement of subs, how you want them to preform, type of music, box etc. If you like more air movement with your system then more cone area with subs of your choice etc. That's my input on it but I'm still a noob.

That's not true. The box design is going to be a factor before cone area, if you put two subs in crap box and a single sub in a good box, then more than likely the single sub will perform better.

Just because you have more cone area doesn't mean you'll be louder. If all things are equal, then yes more cone area should give you more output, but theres more things that factor in it then just cone area.

Yes sir that's why I said the box is a factor also. Cone area is just the tip of the ice berg so to speak. I have always been puzzled by "What will make me louder?" questions. It's too many things working together to accomplish being loud than just subs. But thank you sir.

Yeah, its just you said more cone area will always make a difference when that really isn't true.

Since you're already on this site, take advantage of it. There is a lot of information to be found. Having this knowledge will help you make better decisions when it comes time to upgrade your gear.

Actually cone area does make a big differance. It just depends on what the individual wants out of the system. More cone area=higher numbers. It just really depends like I said on what said individual wants. One 12 isn't going to move air or high numbers in a burb. Compaired to one 18 or 4 12" subs in same vehicle. Then comes resonate frequency, box tuneing, box volume etc etc. I'm not trying to argue just clear up the misunderstanding. I did say cone area makes a diff cause it does play a roll along with everything else I said. It's not just one thing can be the answer all solution sir. I have kept an opened mind to learning and being corrected. So if I mess up or say something wrong feel free to let me know. That's how you learn. I will say during my old school comps days cone area, box type, size, running, electrical and eq settings etc made a differance in sound.

Cone area makes a difference to a point, Box makes a big difference in the setup.. Equipment makes a difference also. Point being, My 2 12"s will get louder than most of the hood rats 2-4 15"s around here cause they have 15"s in 1.5-2cube boxes on boss amps.. so my 12"s will beat them out all day because I have the correct box, tuning to the subs/car and the correct equipment.

Also Point, anyone can make most cheap subs sound decently good/loud with a good designed box.. One day I will get 2 blue waves and build a box to match the specs and my cars freq. and meter it just to show cheap junk can get decently loud.

decently loud as defined... loud enough to be heard 20' from said car with windows down... hit over 125dbs on rated cheap junk subs..

That's my point exactly cyn. Luv the avatar by the way lol. I have taken two vr3 12" subs and surpassed a gentleman who had two 15" subs. It started by me telling him he was hurting his output with kicker 15's in a sealed 1.6ft3 per sub box. Well to back up what I was saying I took my 20 dollar subs I use in my garage for my iPod and games. Put them in a ported inclosure with 2.6ft3 per sub after displacement. Had it tuned to 33hz with subsonic filter set at 30 since the subs wouldn't play below that, cheap subs. To be truthful didn't build the box I helped with it as to the time I didn't have the knowlage or tools to build it. Well he was so ticked off after hearing my cheap subs against his $300 kicker subs lol. Luv doing that stuff for fun.

Before someone says it. No cheap subs won't play at the same level or quality as more expensive subs.
