What would hit harder (aka make me be heard from further away and make my rearview shake the most) 2 rockford fosgate p2's 400 rms a piece 800 rms total or 1 rockford fosgate t2 with 1200 watt rms. i know about enclosure, i know about amp, i know about wiring. Just let me know wgich would hit harder.

Hmm... I'll be interested to see what people say. For some reason I feel like the 1200wrms would hit harder, but I really dont know. And you said you werent looking for guesses, so I'll leave it up to the experts.

2 twelves on 800 watts will be louder than 1 12 on 1200, rule of thumb is double cone area or double power for a ~3db increase given that everything else is equal

Yeah i would think so too but the difference of surface area one 12 inch to two 12 inch makes me question it

Idd get the t and put It on a t1500bdcp my friends got 2 t2 15's on 2 t1500bdcp's and it's one of the cleanest sounding woofers I have ever heard there so clean compared to my level 5's( which don't sound bad either) I really feel like when it comes to sq nothing comes close to the t2

BUT let's say i had two alpine sws 500 watt rms 12 inchers OR 2 400 rms 12 incher p2's. the p2's actually hit harder. Me and my friend tested it even though his rms was higher.

it depends on what power your AMP is putting out to the subs, just because the subs handle more power doesnt give it more "rms"

I know the t2 is definitly a top quality sub. I just want to be louder but not soooo loud where i'm getting pulled over. I've passed several cops without noticing them with my p2's hitting hard. They didn't even notice. For some reason they're really loud on the inside but barely noticeable on the outside

a sub's power handling has NOTHING to do with power given to it. 2 t1500bdcp's will throw out 3500w rms if not more.

Why does it matter how it sounds outside the vehicle? So you can annoy everybody? Cops haven't pulled you over because they can't hear it or they just don't care. I drive by cops blasting mine all the time and they don't do anything, but I'm sure they can hear it.

Either setup you get isn't going to be anything amazing. Look into some better subs and more power.

Also the enclosure will be the deciding factor if you get loud or not.
