Need more highs

I'm looking to add a component speaker set up front and an after market set of coaxial speakers in the back both powered by an amp. I current setup is 1 sundown 12 running at 600 watts rms with a pioneer fh-p8000bt head unit. When the music is up load it hard to hear the words in the music. Even after playing around with the high pass filter on my head unit the sound is better, but I'm still not getting the sound I want. I'm looking for something that will get loud when the bass is really loud but still maintain clear sound. I don't haven't heard a lot of component sets so I'm not really sure if can be done with any good set of component speakers . I'm looking for some recommendations . Car type is a 07 Chevy Impala

Gotta start with a budget first. There are great comps that can be recommended, but you have to start with a price.

Just saying with aftermarket speakers, you'll definitely need an amp. with 4 channel amp you can choose to amp both front and rears or put it all on the fronts depending on what you want.

I think the OP needs to find a component set that has high sensitivity (dB) so it can run off of the head unit. If the sub setup puts out a lot of bass it will drown the new speakers, but you can tame the bass so it will sound more balanced. Try it like that first, it will work but you may not be able to crank it too loud as there is niot enough power. With this option you can still add an amp later to your comps to make it more balanced and be able to play louder.

@crimson229; it can be done with a pair of components but you're gonna need power. It's night & day difference from headunit power to a separate amp with adequate power. Your speakers will come alive once you amp them and match your sub easily. I would look into a component set since you want more clarity in the highs. Placement of tweeter is key. Place it up high, closer to your ears so there's less distance to travel to your ear. Coaxials will make it hard to hear the words when the bass hits since the tweeters will be where your legs are.

High sensitivity speakers still need power to bring out the midrange vocals or else it'll sound extremely flat and unimpressive. head untis only put out 7-12 actual watts, even a 96db sensitive pro audio speaker would laugh at that, especially if you have a proper sub stage that can easily overpower the mids and highs. Yes he can turn the subs down but that defeats the basshead's purpose of getting a loud sub.

It doesn't matter, I just realized the OP does want an amp.
