Once again you sir are correct! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif I bet I could swap my stuff out for middle of the road stuff and most wouldn't tell a difference. I would of course, and I bet you may. When you build a motor that starts out as a 300 HP, you make it say 600 HP, it cost you x amount of $$$. The next 50 HP will very likely cost as much or more than the first 300HP. Point being, most won't do it, therefore not much CMass in the lanes. You call it diminishing returns, I call it that little extra! Iguess you would stop at 600 HP huh?CM makes top notch stuff, no doubt. My problem with them is the law of diminishing returns.
If everyone who sets foot in someone's vehicle is amazed how good it sounds, its much more likely from the amazing install, not necessarily the brand of speakers.
If some of the things suggested in this thread were true, all the top competitors would be running CM wouldn't they?
Probrably not actually, but once again I like to go a little more than I "have"to. They actually are very powerful for their size and I let my truck play for hours at a time and never start up. 5 1/2 hrs. one day and still had 12.3 v. My truck of course started right up. I do a lot of listening (engine off) and wanted no issues. Hope that alt. holds up, bet it don't like it. LOLAnd are all those batcaps really needed. I know what they are but wouldn't one or two really good batteries and a huge alternator do the trick? (not dissing your system) I just need info.
I guess the "things" suggested you are talking about would be my comment about CMass being "the best stuff on the planet" remark? I believe it is. But everyone including you knows that is a matter of opinion only! There are a good bit of companies making good stuff, just may be that my good might be your great . I really am not sure though because I don't know you!CM makes top notch stuff, no doubt. My problem with them is the law of diminishing returns.

Man me and you, or is it you and I, agree totally. If you read what you wrote here, about good equip. average install and average equip great install being equal. I choose great equip "and" great install. Instead of working harder on install and spending less. But that is not for everyone and there will be people with lesser equipment and better install that will kick my arse in the lanes I promise. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gifIm really not sure what more opinions you want from me. I based most of my reply on the notion that CM uses 'superior materials and designs'. You are certainly entitled to your opinion, and you could pick a much worse company to hitch your wagon to, but in the end CM is just another high-end audio company making very good products. Superior, imo, is a word that implies they are the best bar none. That simply is not the case. But yes, I know you didn't mean they were THE best for everything. Just saying...
And the HP analogy, while it shows you know what I meant, is not a perfect parallel. The diminishing returns here would be paying grossly more money for speakers that will only exhibit slightly better performance than a much cheaper product would. Most people would never notice this difference in most situations, even you. In your install, if we just swapped out drivers... sure you'd notice. But, that is not to say we couldn't swap out drivers, and STILL improve the sound (by messing with the install). Or, you could not tell if you were listening to UL12's or roadmaster 12's while doing a blind listening test with an unfamiliar stereo. Install is the key, not necessarily brand. Yes you already know this, saying it for those who dont.
We all have our favorites, myself included. If someone swapped out my speaks in my system, Id ... notice. But in the end, if someone blindfolded me and sat me in a car I didn't know and asked me what brand of speakers, amplifiers or sound processing are being used, I couldn't even begin to guess. If it sounded good to my ears, it might be Roadmaster gear in a sweet install, or it might be CM in an average one, etc. Knowing this, I would rather not feel the need to purchase the top 1% priced equipment, but rather spend less and work more on the install. That is not to say I disagree with your choice of equipment, we each have our own notion of sonic nirvana. I wish you well with yours, Im sure it sounds fantastic.
Right on man. Great stereo, and great attitude. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gifMan me and you, or is it you and I, agree totally. As for keeping all drivers the "same brand", It is personal preference. And "may" not be the best way to go. I have always liked to do it that way. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Company A may have a bad a$$ tweet, and a so so mid. While company B will have a so so tweet and a bad a$$ mid. Put them together and it might be the $hit. As for the JL, I would think it could do the job, but someone else may be better to answer as I am not a JL man! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/hide.gif.2d479cfd917eedfe201353b91522ceab.gifHow about jl 8w3 for midbass. Or should I keep all speakers of the same brand or is this just all a matter of opinion?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif
