Need massive help

I have 2 12 kicker 4ohm l7 wired to 1ohm to a mbquart 1500.1 monoblock that has 2 channels. So far I have had three amps hooked to these and they all get hot and cut off. Plus they don't sound good. I have my l7 wired +_+ and -_- on the inside, and outside the box same thing in parrelel, then one set of wires run to amp bridged. This amp says its one ohm stable........all input is highly appreciated, I'm stuck

is your input sensitivity set correctly? you say your running a monoblock but you have it bridged? you cant bridge a monoblock amp it has only one channel

if they're both dual 4ohms then your wiring is correct. double check to make sure both subs are the correct impendence.

also start with your gains all the way down. zero boost and work your way up.

if 3 amps show the same problem then the problem lies within:

- subwoofer impedance as stated above

- your amp settings = clipping into protect

- your headunit settings = clipping into protect

- Bad ground

- low voltages due to bad battery

- not using the correct gauge wire

Thanks everyone, both my speakers are dual 4ohm and my amp says its monoblock, but for some reason it has two channels..its the mbquart 1500.1 monblock...so if my battery isn't good then my amp would be shutting off??? I think my battery is bad, because my car battery light comes on during stereo play

The amp does not have two channels, it has two sets of speaker terminals on one channel. This is so you can run two separate runs from two subs and connect them in parallel at the amplifier without using wire nuts.

From what you're saying, it sounds like your battery or alternator aren't cutting it.

What size power wire are you using?

How is the amp grounded and what size wire did you use to ground it?

Is the alternator factory?

If yes above, what car?

If the amp is causing the battery light to come on, you have a power problem. And, if you continue to use the system with a power problem, you'll have a lot more than an easily repairable problem. Running it like that can wipe out the alternator, your subs, your amp and/or your battery.

I used 4 gauge wire, amp is grounded close to amp, yes its stock 2002 dodge intrepid. Im also running a cap, but the ground is really far away from that

That car should have a 130A factory alternator, so you're good there as long as the alternator isn't bad. Thanks for mentioning the cap, too. Disconnect it from the circuit before doing anything else. You don't have to completely remove it, just lift the ground. You can leave the positive connection in tact, just make sure it is tight and that the ring terminals are in good shape.

If that corrects the problem, toss the cap. If not, have the battery tested and then the alternator, if the battery checks out okay.

But before all of that... go over ALL of your power and ground connections and check both the termination points and the ring terminals and make sure they're tight and free of corrosion. Also, make sure your battery posts are clean AND, make sure the factory battery ground is good. Your wiring can be the best in the world and if that ground is effed... your whole system is.

EDIT: Oh and, if you plan to use a cap, it's best to have it as close to the amp as possible and to have it grounded at the same point as the amp... again, as close as possible.

Ok thank you very much, and I forgot to mention that I have my amp ran to my battery jumper positive and not the real terminal, because battery is under car. I don't know if thatmatters

If the stock wire from the jumper post to the battery is smaller than your 4 guage amp wire, then theres a chock point in current flow there, otherwise its not a big deal
