WrongNever use bass boost it only adds distortion to your system in order to make it louder. This puts stress on your electrical and your equipment also. Just set your gains correctly with everything flat you will see a more stable voltage this way
Wrong
It increases the output at a certain frequency, but most people crank this up along with the gain and they end up clipping. If you set your gains right with the bass boost on, you won't be clipping, but you'll lose output in all the other freq except where the bass boost is at. Either way, still shouldn't use it
Op what amp do you have and what vehicle? What size is your stock alt?
You have not mentioned you actually measured voltage yet. Have you? If so, with what, where, when, and what readings were you getting?
Is that with the system playing, or just car idling? If you're just idling then you have alternator problems. My car at idle was only about 13.2 volts and it has droped down into the low 11s like 11.2 around there with the battery installed

Car should be sitting around 14.4 at idle.
Batteries rest at 12.7 to 12.9v when they are charged so your battery is fine. That is what I was thinking to and the 13.2 was with nothing on. But do you think I need to charge up both of the batteries because when I installed the kinetic it was only about at 12.9 volts

With your car running, you alternator charges it up to 14.4v. If it's not going to 14.4v, then you have a problem with your alternator...like I just said.
Also using 4 gauge wire could be a problem
Again, where did you test that? With what? And when did you test? What year/model car?My car at idle was only about 13.2 volts and it has droped down into the low 11s like 11.2 around there with the battery installed
you MUST do the big 3. with 0 gauge. you must also run 0 gauge to the batteries.Shouldn't the battery of helped though even without zero guage? i mean my amp will go into protect mode even sometimes
You don't have to do it with 1/0ga. Definitely not a requirement depending on the setup.you MUST do the big 3. with 0 gauge. you must also run 0 gauge to the batteries.
what kind of vehicle is this anyway? im running 1200 rms off a stock alt and a basic battery in a 77 cougar. i get slight voltage drop at roughly 13.2v... but i also have the big 3 upgrade
I agree, if you're going to do it may as well be 1/0AWG. However, explain to me how the current of a stock alt on an 04 Mustang exceeds the capabilites of 4ga please.with what this person is demanding from his system. 0 gauge is the way to go
it has to be at least 90- 120A. with 0 gauge. you will not have to worry about current flow. with 4 gauge its a little iffy. ya never know how its gonna lastI agree, if you're going to do it may as well be 1/0AWG. I don't know the stock alt size, but I would guess no more than 120A. Well within 4ga limits.
