whats up?

I am working on a build for my wife’s 2005 Pontiac g6. Not going to do anything to crazy I am just going to put in some stuff that I recently took in on trades.

I'm not looking to kill her with bass, just want to get some good deep bass with some good sq, so anyway here is what I am putting in.

Keeping stock deck because computer is running through it, dont want to buy an interface. have a jl clean sweep and summing device to take care of the signal conversion.

front stage speakers will be infinity kappa 6.5 components

front stage amp jl 300/4

rear fill will be another set of infinity kappa 6.5 components

sub stage will be a single dd 9515 that I am going to be getting soon

sub amp will be a us amps usa-2000 I do not plan on running the amp at full capacity because I want to keep it a little more mild for my wife.

will use deadener for entire trunk

will also be using kicker hyperflex 1/0 gauge to take care of power.

Now here is where I need the help...

I planned on adding another battery but I am kind of tight on cash at the moment due to having a new baby girl so I want to keep this as cheap as I can. I can afford to get the other battery but what I am worried about is will my stock charging system be able to handle a second battery? I cannot afford another alternator at the moment. I was thinking about running an isolator to only charge one battery at a time, let me know what you guys think.

An isolator doesn't work that way. It isolates what's on its line (the amps) from the car battery so you don't drain the car battery. You can't choose which battery the alt will charge. It will always charge both at the same time.

A second battery doesn't strain an alt that much. It should be OK.

oh and i dnt think you should use that sub...9515 take a lot of power...
True.

You talk about not wanting to kill her with bass but you're looking at buying a 15" sub catered to SPL designed for 1500RMS?

She'd probably be real happy with a single 10 or 12 with ~ 500RMS.

well I had this stuff around the house except for the sub which is already on the way. I have the ability to run at about 2k watts rms on just sub stage but I figured I shouldnt run that much with a stock electrical system. I have been considering getting her an suv due to the new addition to the family and the extra room would be great. In that case I would take over the g6 and I would use all the bass I can get out of that one 15. I knew the 9515 is designed for spl but I have been told that they do not sound to bad when it comes to sq. Definately will not be a great sq set up but I imagine it will be decent for a daily system.

Do you guys think I would be ok with the big 3 and another battery at a total of 2300 watts which is of course not a consistant power output. I want to avoid getting another alt if I can, just not in the budget at this time.
